Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
Digging the season so far... I really like the dynamic of "changing times". From the colors and design of their homes and things like that to the references "When are things going to get back to normal?" By Roger. Its like Roger's era has ended... and the younger people are doing things differently.Comment

Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
Just getting caught up and I have to say that I was largely underwhelmed by the premiere ... but Roger got some great, great lines. Episode 2 brought it back on track for me and it really looks like this situation Betty got herself into is gonna get real ugly.
Really, loved Draper's line while waiting to see the Stones to the young girl about being worried about their generation. Really showed an interesting divide in perspectives.
Spoiler...and pretty relevant, currently, as well.Comment

Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
Seems to me based on the writing that Meghan knows Don better than Betty ever did, and i'm not talking about his military past. Intrigues me where they take it though.HELLO BROOKYLN.

I think Don has been way more open with her than he ever was with Betty. I mean, she knows that he is really Dick Whitman.Comment

Holy frakkin' Mad Men! For a while there I believed what was happening. Unless......
That episode was great. And Roger getting his money fleeced again...Certainly my favorite character this season by far.

Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
Roger is just getting owned this season. First the matchup with Pete then Peggy robs him. I loved that scene, though. Roger talks about being "valuable" to the company, but he's almost like the lowest rung of the ladder. I could see Roger getting ousted and Pete being made a named-partner (Sterling Campbell Draper Pryce?), though probably not likely. At least he doesn't appear to be as depressed as last season.
Speaking of Peggy, she basically owned the episode until her encounter with Dawn. For as progressive as Peggy likes to think she is, she really is a bit naive and she showed it last night with the purse situation.
Joan, simply put, is a damn lionness.
I am really enjoying Michael's character thus far. It will be interesting to see how he unfolds as the season progresses.

Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
I found it amusing that the girl in Don's fever dream was Madchen Amick from Twin Peaks, the granddaddy of all TV shows when it comes to dream sequences.
Interesting how the writers really used the theme of the Speck Chicago murders throughout the episode (Don's murderous dream, Peggy nervous about office sounds at night, Sally sleeping under the couch, Joan finally calling out Dr. Rapist, etc.).Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
It was that she let her fear of appearing prejudice change her mind that was interesting.
I'm so glad that Greg is gone. He's one of the most unlikable characters on TV. No redeeming qualities.Comment

Re: Mad Men (madmen) Season 5
The thing about that scene is her initial reaction was a perfectly normal response. If I let a coworker of a few days/weeks sleep on my couch, I wouldn't leave my wallet out no matter what ethnicity they are or what I thought of them. Especially considering it contained $400+ (probably equates to 3 grand or more today).

What was the deal with that? I think I missed that part of the show when it went down. I was confused last night as well. Did he rape a patient or something?Comment
