yeah much like The Walking Dead i treat it as an alternate version of the story being told. Plus i forgot a lot of this earlier stuff as i didn't do any re-reading, and only read ADWD recently.

So these changes i don't mind at all as long as some of the MAJOR events don't get changed.

Yeah I'm not a stickler about differences either and actually think that the show has improved on the source material in some areas (several characters are just flat out more interesting in the show).

It's just a different experience as I find myself kind of anticipating the scenes that are coming up and how they are going to play out instead of being on the edge of my seat in a "What the hell is going to happen next?!" kind of way.

happen in the books or was that just put in there for shock value by the show?

Nope, it was in the books.

I re-watched the episode and liked it a lot more. As I said, I know WHY they did the changes, but they are a bit jarring. I really like Salladhor Saan, though, great casting there. It's still a fine show and will watch religiously and analyze it way too much.



What's funny is I'm a huge Tolkien fan as well, and the only thing I really disliked about PJ's trilogy was the added Arwen stuff (not the ride w/ Frodo, I was fine with that) and the Elves being at Helm's Deep. Of course I'm referring to the Extended Editions, and not the theatricals.

one of the best episodes of the se ries so far i thought. Intense throughout. I am sure there will be some discussion upon the endbut these are the types of things that need to be done. And The Maid of Tarth!!!!!

Really good episode. Pleasant surprise seeing Ann Boleyn on my tv. I like her version of Margaery. It's one that I always felt was there in the books, but I'm surprised they're showing it already. One of those things you have to do in for a tv series I guess. Did they re-cast Loras though? He looks a lot different than in the first season.

No Daenerys makes me sad.

That was my favorite episode yet...so much awesome! Brienne, Yoren, Margaery, Theon (and was that the Damphair or just some "Joe Priest"), even the liberties were great!

Now Mr. Actor-who-I-can't-Name who portrays Stannis, knock it out of the park next week. You have a pivotal scene, you must not fail.

One thing that I like the show is able to do that you can't see in the books is delve into Renly's sexuality. I think the scene with Margery was well done. So for all the grief I have given for changes I feel I should also give credit where it is due and that scene in one where credit should be given.
