Re: Game of Thrones Season 2 (aka A Clash of Kings)

Uhhhh.....this show is just too. damn. goood!

The direwolves look like they've all grown up! Are they gonna get any bigger? I was straight-up fanboying when Grey Wind showed up and pissed (well, growled) on Jamie. Where's your pet, little lion man?

I thought it was neat that Bran was dreaming from the perspective of a direwolf (Summer, maybe?) now. Change of theme perhaps, from the ravens of season 1 (don't ruin my theory, book people!).

Clearly, Daenerys' journey to badass dragon queen will take a while. Though I did find it interesting that Jorrah said "So and so will take your dragons." Aren't the Targaryens the only ones who can control them? Unless by take, he meant kill.

I'm definitely hoping Joffrey getting slapped becomes a seasonal occurrence. He goes from King of the Douche to sounding like a little **** the moment that hand hits him.

    Edit:

Great episode, but the actor who portrays Stannis is going to have to grow on me. The Baratheon face-off will hopefully convert me.

I loved Melisandre, loved the warging scene with Bran and him going to the pond, and the whole ending montage...WOW! Oh, and Craster: "you southerners sure make some good wine...oh hey, nice axe too".

I like the actors playing Stannis and Davos, but based on the books the image i got in my head are actually flopped to whom they actually cast. Still, it only took me a scene or two before i'm used to it.

In most shows I would have been certain that Cersei wasn't going to have Littlefinger killed right then and there, but with this show, I was thinking, "This might be it for him."

Also a new scene not from the book. Good to see Jaime will be involved this season!

I found ep2 and tried to hold out not watching until sunday...... but I couldnt . Im starting to feel like the book is too complex for onscreen. Like there is soo much to explain and soo little time.

When I 1st began reading the books it was after S 1 ep9 when Ned was killed. Now I've read all 5 books and maybe thats whats affecting my entertainment.

That is kinda why I was underwhelmed by the premier. Given all that happens in ACOK I felt like nothing was really accomplished in the first episode, but that is because I finished the book about 7 days ago. So I get where you are coming from.

At least ASOS will get 20 episodes (seasons 3 & 4) to tell its story.

I've found that most book readers who find fault with the series are those who have read (or re-read) the books right before watching. It's only natural to compare details of the show with the books (same with LOTR, Harry Potter, etc.) when they're so fresh in your mind, but it takes away from the enjoyment of the show IMO.

I've read about people downloading episode 2. I was tempted to look for it myself but I'd rather not wait 2 weeks before getting a fresh new episode.
