Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

Ive used em before with great results.

Due to the location of the router vs where my pc had to be.

IT guy at work told me about it and i never regretted my purchase

It's a pretty damn good router that's only about 25 feet away, and there won't be many obstructions between the two.

Accquired an a new i7-7700 along with 16gb of ram but the motherboard only has 2 dimm slots. I eventually want to have 32gb for new build, what would be a good pairing with the i7. Ram is PC4-2666V, do i need an OC board to run this speed?

Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
          Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....

Unless I am mistaken, you bought server RAM. But anyway that RAM is generic and not meant to be overclocked. You should be able to reach that speed on any board since that speed isn't high.

Good pairing with an I7 would be RAM with 3000mhz or higher speed.

yeah i believe its some kinda propietary ram that comes with pc since the mobo says hp on it. but supposedly this is somekinda gaming system i bought. i think the guy just pillaged the good parts and left the rest to sell. Any suggestions for a motherboard?

Considering that CPU is entry level, it severely limits your choices. Would have been better off getting the K version. But this would be good with it:

                https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16813130978

MSI Z270 SLI PLUS LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard - $129.99

Also that CPU don't support high speed RAM at all.

I am so stoked I went all in on the 1080ti last fall. **** should look amazing. I have the One X too so technically either way I'm golden. I'm really hoping it'll have cloud saves that you can use for both. That would be epic.

                        Agreed. Can't wait.

I remember playing Madden '04 PC with my buddy. I'd let him use the controller and I'd use a keyboard lol.

I have a similar monitor to the 27" Asus you posted: Asus PG279q and its a freakin amazing monitor. I'm not sure what the differences are between the two but i'm sure its minimal. I have a 1080ti running it and its just flat out a beast, everything runs so smooth.

With that said, if i were to pick, i would always pick an ultra wide first just because of the extra things you could do with the extra real estate. I love watching movies fit the whole screen with no black bars, its always what i wanted when watching movies. I would go with the z35p you posted. i haven't used it personally but I use my pg348q way more than my other monitor when working on stuff like web browsing, editing video/photos.

I do split time using both for gaming though, depending how I feel. Games do look better and run smoother on my 27" for obvious reasons.

I have the same PG279q and is great. I thought I'd have buyer's remorse after spending so much on the thing. Nope, the second I saw how beautiful it was even before calibrating it I was in love.
