1440p Ultra wide all day. Most games I play have a wide setting, I only had a couple old games that didn’t support it and they were released before 2013 I think.

Especially for computer work, the extra real estate is awesome. When browsing I have three pages open at once and when you video edit the timeline is longer.

I just think 4K monitors are not worth it unless you have a 43” inch tv or something. I tried out my friends and can barely tell the difference on a 27” screen. You also have to increase the ratio to read text.

I’m just waiting for madden and being able to see sideline to sideline pre-snap without zooming out.

Actually I have decided if I’m going to get a better video card I’m going to have to upgrade my CPU.

I can’t get any of the higher CPUs unfortunately so maybe you guys can help me with this:

i5-8400 or Ryzen 2600

Both are same price and to me seem about equal. I’m reading 2600 might be more future proof.

I’ll be pairing it with a GTX 1070ti (I found one for a pretty good price)

I am trying to keep CPU/GPU/Motherboard under $800.

I’m currently using an i5-3570k - it seems it will bottleneck anything above a 1060.

I am headed to Micro Center today to pickup my MB, CPU, RAM and SSD.

I decided on the i5-8400 as well. Best bang for the buck from what I've gathered. I don't NEED to OC as I'll just be gaming; no streaming, recording or editing.

That said I'm getting the MSI z370 Gaming Pro motherboard.

1- Because if I do end up with a CPU I can OC then I'll be able to.

2- Because it's ridiculously cheap when paired with the 8400! $89.99 out the door with a $20 rebate. $69.00 total.

I know ATM I won't need / get the most out of the z370 board, but at the price you can't beat it.

Anyway, I'm pairing my new stuff with my 1060 6gb (plan on getting a new GPU and monitor down the line) and couldn't be more excited. Putting it all together tonight, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Well I ended up with the AMD Ryzen 2600 since I do a lot of editing, 3D work, and coding as well. Figured it would suit me better all around and I got a nice x470 motherboard that should overclock it very well.

I also was able to snag a GTX 1080 for under $500 so couldn’t pass it up.

AMD Ryzen 2600
GTX 1080 8GB

Now planning on getting a new monitor soon to take advantage of it. Currently gaming on 1080p.

I go to greenmangaming, they're always giving discounts on games.Then theres steam and you picked the perfect time to pick up your pc cause the steam summer sale is this Thursday

Steam is usually the best imo.

Humble bundle is fantastic.

G2A.com is great for finding older game keys super super cheap that activate on steam.

If you went with a 1080 I would look at a 1440p monitor.

It certainly is exciting to upgrade man, congrats.

I finished my build Tuesday night, finally got a chance to play a bit of PUBG and BF last night.

New technology is such a great feeling. Those games ran "ok" for me before but now they run flawlessly for me. Loving it.

Got my wife’s PC built and then built mine.. sadly enough, I only had a 6 pin power connector. GTX 1080 obviously requires more. Why do I not read? FML.

Off to PC store tomorrow to get what I need and I can finally try it.

Well.. after a weekend with my rig. I’ve decided to return my motherboard and CPU.

The Ryzen just seems to be struggling more than it should. I’ve decided to go with the i5-8600k. (Getting it and the motherboard same price as I did the Ryzen and motherboard)

What kind of problems were you experiencing?

Wouldn’t call them problems. Just the FPS seems lower than I was expecting.

Maybe I’m jumping the gun and just need to wait for my aftermarket cooler and OC the Ryzen. (My bias of Intel also makes this difficult lol)

Any recommendations?
