Your GPU is I am assuming the intel built in. Not good. Google GTX 1060 and make sure it is comparable with your board.

Also an update on my PC freezing issue. Since running the second PCIe cable from PSU to 1080ti I have had no freezes. Coming up on 5 days.

Thanks for reporting back. I have found, in dealing with PCs for about 30 years now, that often the culprit in those freezing issues is a power issue. Sometimes its the motherboard, a driver or something else but power issues are notorious for causing those things.

Glad you have it fixed...lets hope you don't have another freeze for like a year now

How people trouble shot stuff like this before the internet was such a treasure trove of information, I have no idea. I would have never thought of doing it.

I probably would have bought another PSU/Ram/Mobo, than just smashed the PC when it froze again.

Well, I installed everything for the trial run, and it booted properly, no issues at all. Now tomorrow comes the routing cables, installing the PSU into the case, etc. I have a 1080 coming as a stop gap, til the next cards.

Such a great feeling to push the power button, and everything boot up properly on the first go. CPU was idling at 29 degrees, whisper quiet fan. I know it'll be different once it's in the case, but I'm happy w/ where it's at so far.

Nice! I actually really like the case you got, its got a ton of good reviews after looking it up.

It's bigger than I thought it'd be by a bit, but still a bitch to work with. Lol. I bought a sfx-l psu, but apparently it takes a full sized atx psu. I had to order the bracket now. It's a slick looking case though.

Can that case be put on its side? Also how many drives can it fit?

I finally got around to building a separate server, so I just got rid of 4 full size HDDs out of my main PC. Currently using a GD08B, but also waiting for my motherboard to come back from Gigabyte once it’s repaired, so I’ll need to rebuild everything.

You can easily fit 3 2.5" drives in. My mobo also has 2 nvme slots too, so I could run a really nice setup. And it can be used on its side, but mine didn't come w the vertical stand. Not sure why. My psu adapter and 1080 will be here today, so I'll try to post a Pic after it's done.

Here she is. Up and running. Threw a 1080 in there for the meantime, until the RTX releases.

Well thank you WTF for sending me back to the drawing board lol...

Man I'm just getting lost (in a good way) in the world of ITX cases, I wanted a smaller case but didn't really think about how small they could get. Since I already have my GPU I'm kinda willing to spend a full build worth on everything else and that opens me up to some premium cases, the 2 I see as most likely being the Ncase M1 and the Dan A4 (check out pics and videos if you haven't, OptimumTech on YouTube has a great M1 build I'm modeling after). The way the Dan is designed just kinda blew me away, when I saw the Fractal Nano what stood out was the drive mounting, in that they're mounted on the back of mobo and there's no drive bay, and you can put all the excess cables underneath. Now seeing these small form cases with PCI risers and the graphics card split on the other side of the mobo... Just incredible man. I think I'm going to go with the N1 because I have a huge 3.5 drive for movies/shows and there's no room for a drive that size in the Dan. I also have 2 SSD's, one for boot, the other for games, I was thinking about moving the boot drive to an M2 but I don't think it's really necessary, still on the table.

And if I can get a 9900k on release, I will. Might as well just get the best and count the extra years without having to replace as savings.

Running numbers assuming the 9900k is $500, plus my mobo $180, SFF 600 W PSU $120, the only difference between the two will be the price of the case (M1 is $200 vs the Nano at $70) and I would get some extra Noctua fans for the M1 to try to alleviate heating issues. Last thing to consider is noise level, I haven't found a lot of impressions. If the M1 can run a full system fairly quietly, this is a no brainer for me.

Those are some slick case choices. I looked at both of them when I was doing by build. I'm not really sure why I went with the one I went with, other than I could get it in 2 days w/ Prime shipping, lol.

IF, you go with a case like mine, there is room for a 3.5" drive if you use an SFX-L PSU. You'll of course have to get the SFX to ATX PSU bracket which is $8 on amazon, but there's ample room for a 3.5" drive above the PSU. Just use double sided tape to stick it into place.

I like the cases you linked to as it seems there's more room for cable management, or the ability to manage cables better. I'm happy w/ my case and my build for the time being. Can't wait for the new card to get here, so I can open it up one last time, and then be set for several years on the PC front.

I ran some benchmarks, no overclocking, etc and I broke 7k in 3dmark.

That's with the processor running at 4.0GHz. I assume w/ a mild overclock and the new GPU, I should be good to go.

Also, here is the case that I wanted, but it wasn't ready, and it will only take Mini style GPU's... up to 8.4" in length.
