I upgraded for $15 even though I had a sour taste in my mouth (see above post). Thus far I like it, after getting used to the keyboard shortcuts. It'll be a lot better once more apps get added to the Microsoft store. I also don't have a tablet, just a regular laptop so I don't get the full functionality of using a touchscreen.

My parents have Windows 8 on their laptop. It's a ****ing dumpster fire. I hate it, they hate it, I could see how it'd be cool if you had a tablet but on a standard laptop it's absolutely awful.

I played around with it at best buy. Obviously I didn't use it very long, but it just looks like Windows 7 with a fancy, designed-for-touch-screen overlay. If you only have a keyboard and mouse I don't see the point of using the "metro" view. Will annoy you more than anything.

Yeah, but the removal of the start button really just...I don't know. Pisses me off.

Windows 7 is fine. This is nothing but a cash grab.

I played with it too for just a couple minutes and it confirmed for me that I'm staying with 7 for awhile and I'm buying a new laptop here in the next couple months.

As with all Microsoft products, you NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, get a newly released product from them until they release a few patches for it.

You can tell they released this product 50% complete to get to the consumers in time for the holidays and use the "Get the new Windows 8 OS for your brand new laptop!" scheme to get users to buy it.

Even in the commercials, you can see that they avoid anything relevant to how the OS works. All they do is show the catchy new tablet/laptop clicking keyboards left and right. No actual screens of how it functions..

Windows 8 = Vista.
