So true. Just kind of hard to do and shouldn't be used to argue a point with people who haven't experienced the book, only the show (and love the show).

      HBO Throne = pretty good.

I'll be honest, that looks obnoxious. Glad HBO had the good sense to make the Iron Throne look reasonable.

It's not like they'd be able to afford having a location fit that kind of throne anyway.

Having a throne like that is infinitely more badass though.

It's definitely more colorful. I like it. I think the dark imagery is a bit overdone right now.

The Paint Hall could hold that easily. I bet it's not over 40 feet tall.

If Im a producer, Im not even entertaining the idea if building and managing that set piece. Things like that are what the imagination is for, or maybe CG.

You think the Iron Throne looks like this? YOU KNOW NOTHING! Game of Thrones creator, George R.R. Martin is blogging again, and this one is a doozy. Turns

That version of the iron throne might actually have 1000 blades in it...

Would be a nightmare to shoot. How many scenes in that throne room is the King talking to advisors flanking him?

I don't buy it. The doors of the paint hall are 75 feet high. The throne in that pic is no where near that tall unless those white cloaks are 10 feet tall. Actually it's not that tall even if they are 10 feet tall.

IDK if RR said that painting was a scale model. He said it were closer to his vision than the HBO one.

Either way, its not that serious.

Sorry, but I'm going to believe GRRM on this one, considering he's been to the Paint Hall and the Throne is his own creation. I think he'd know whether or not what he imagined would fit.

When making movies and tv shows the vision that plays out on screen will always be shaped by production cost limits. No way the producers could justify spending on that big crazy throne.

The throne as Martin envisions it is pretty damn scary to look at actually, which, I believe, further drives home just how magnificent of a force the Targaryens were when they first arrived in Westeros. It'd be funny to see Robert and his fat *** walk up that Iron Throne.

Old news, but sharing it here since it hasn't been discussed. Red Viper cast in GoT.

Based on what I know of the Dornish, I would've expected him to be more brown/golden brown-skinned. People say he's a terrific actor though. Also, my body is fully ready for the introduction of the Dorne women.
