Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
SpoilerAnyone noticed the sudden disappearance of Senate Majority Leader Mendoza? Later it is mentioned that he accepted undeclared payments for speeches and resigned, but he certainly went out with a whimper.
I wonder if his quick departure had anything to do with Benito Martinez's role on ABC's American Crime?

Season 3 (Episodes 1-13) Spoilers/Thoughts
SpoilerJust finished watching the last episode. Wow, I really enjoyed it. Spacey was sensational especially that last scene, with him grabbing Claire by the throat. I could empathize with him trying to figure what women want lol. I didn't think Stamper had it in him, but he truly showed his loyalty to Frank.I wonder what Claire will do now? Run for office herself? Or give a tell all to the shady writer? Either way I am ready for Season 4. It will only be here in 11 months.Comment

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
I liked this season slightly better than season 2, but season 1 is my favorite by a good margin.
Thoughts:
SpoilerI was used to blowouts at the end of season 1 and 2, but I felt 3 ended in a wimper. Underwood dealing with Petrov were the best parts of season 3. I am pleased that Stamper is alive and hoping for big things out of him next season now that Rachel is dead. I'm disappointed Mendoza is gone; he could hang with Underwood and not many of the show's characters could.
Thoughts/Hopes for season 4:
SpoilerWhen Mendoza was there, I was hoping he would become president. They really need to find someone excellent to run for the Republicans. I also want to see Frank lose, have to start from the bottom and work his way back up, with him eventually getting a second term Grover Cleveland style.Comment

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
Up to Season 3, Episode 7 I believe and yesSpoiler
this season is dragging.
It's easily the worst of the 3 seasons.
Frank has no nuts and Claire is a powerless politician?
They went in the wrong direction for this season IMO.
I'm fine with seeing Frank weak for a moment. But don't do it for half a season.
At this point it just makes me say what was the point of killing off Zoe?
Will keep watching to see how things play out but this season so far has been a huge disappointment.Comment

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
Just finished Season 3.
Spoiler
Season 1- score of 5
Season 2- score of 4
Season 3- score of 2
There were just too many lulls in Season 3.
And bringing in the writer and his relationship to the reporter was a waste of time.
The biggest problem with Season 3 is that they made Frank a bitch for too long. He was weak for 3/4ths of the season.
I also thought having Dunbar running for President was pretty stupid and kind of unrealistic. She was a woman who was smart and about her business in the previous season and now she's this cutthroat woman?
It was just too disjointed. Seems like they had no idea of the direction for the season.
Stamper had to kill Rachel. He's just too loyal to Frank. I wasn't sure why they dragged the Rachel story out for the whole season and then just kill her off in one episode.
I feel the writers of the show got lazy.
Still would watch a Season 4. But this season was a dud IMHO.
Not a drag to me. I finished it yesterday afternoon. Is it perfect? No, but it never has been, including seasons 1 and 2.
SpoilerFrank and Claire's sexual chemistry is nonexistent, and I don't know where the writers are going with it.From the start of season three Claire wants to sleep alone, then bangs Frank on the floor when he's down, then cuddles with him on another occasion, still wants to sleep alone, then wants Frank to be rough with her.............then decides Frank isn't enough for her. I like their interaction as a political team, but that's it.
The writer didn't work for me, because his character was loosely put together and I couldn't get the image of the goofy guy on Boardwalk Empire out of my head. The awkward "near sex" encounter with Frank was a 9.7 (out of 10) on the creepy meter...UGH...
The political infighting and backstabbing is the heart of the show.
Spoiler
Claire didn't feel loved by Frank.
That's why when she told him to look at her while they had sex he couldn't. She went from being a snake in Season 1 to having a heart in Season 3.
I just didn't buy that. Unrealistic.
Spoiler
I think Stamper sickly looked at Rachel like his mother. Don't know why he fantasizes about her like that but he had mother issues from Season 2. They never clarified it which the should have.
Season Finale Spoilers
SpoilerLittle disappointed with how everything played out. This season just seemed dry. I really miss the cut-throat politics Frank used while clawing his way to the top. Just not the same now that he's POTUS.
My favorite parts of the season were Franks interactions with Russia. Very sinister and they seemed to progress the story.
Can someone explain to me what the point of Frank and Claire "rediscovering their love" midseason only to have it completely fall apart again? I mean, was her hair color just a big metaphor?
Didn't really like the new characters either. The author was interesting at first, but became pretty predictable. Still enjoyed the season, just not as much this time around.
Spoiler
I think the whole hair color thing was Claire losing herself. It was her hair color before they got married and were in love. She wanted that feeling back.
To me it was confusing and a waste of time.
And yes, the new characters were wack.
It's like the most ruthless people- Claire, Remy, Jackie and Seth all of a sudden now had hearts.
That's not what made people originally like HOC.Last edited by bigeastbumrush; 03-22-2015, 06:18 PM.Comment

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
Just finished Season 3:
SpoilerAgree with what others have said that this season was the weakest of the 3, but I still enjoyed it.
However, next season will be about the re-election campaign and season 5 (maybe even season 6 if there is one) will be about the downfall. So I'm not too worried about the future direction of the show. There's nothing wrong with a little lull in the action to flesh out the relationship between Frank and Claire.I write things on the Internet.

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
The show was so expensive to produce I thought it would only go for two years. Can't find it anyplace, but didn't it start out with a two year deal?Comment

Re: House Of Cards [Netflix Original] 2/01/13
Season 4 debuts tomorrow, though honestly could it be more compelling and absurd than real-life American politics at this point?
Also makes me wonder if they edited the script on the fly to incorporate some of those elements.I write things on the Internet.
