No need to bring O'Reilly into this. We're talking Hollywood at this point, not that I disagree about his pomposity (though I dont see him as a narcissist). I certainly wouldn't lump him in with the Weinsteins. And certainly the narcisstic sub-group isn't going to largely include pedos/ predators as wouldn't any group. They're deviants and thus the exception to the norm.

The narcissism factor reels its ugly head in many other ways with this group. We could certainly start venturing into other areas here which could easily be TOS violations so I'll let it lie.

So Spacey apparently enters into treatment. That's all well and good, but if there is a charge in reference to a minor, I'm pretty sure there is no statute of limitations.

Stick a fork in Frank Underwood. Netflix has said they won't be involved any further with House of Cards if it involves Spacey. So either season 6 ends up canceled or they rewrite the script to kill off Underwood off screen, those seem to be the most likely options right now.

Yep, what an ignominious end to that series either way. Netflix has also cancelled plans to run a Gore Vidal biopic that Spacey was supposed to star in. It looks like Mr. Spacey's days as a force in Hollywood are over. Heck, I don't even think he can get a Broadway gig again either.

What a great day to be an accuser without any facts but a regally justified story...conviction without a trial..how sweet is that?

It’s a shame to see House of Cards end like this if this is the end. It’s been a bit lackluster the last few seasons but this show really launched Netflix to the big tv/movie maker it is now.

Are you talking about the accuser Anthony Rapp? Just going on memory but I think Rapp had told his story to a writer in the mid 90's and Spacey hardly denied it.

And yet, Spacey enters treatment. If not guilty...then what is he entering treatment for? Last I saw there was nothing out there like the "Cover Your *** Treatment Center for Celebrities".

In other news....Shoeless Joe Jackson still can't get into the Hall of Fame.

I am speaking in general not specific to this. I am a bit bothered by so many people being tried and convicted in the press and the court of public opinion on very little factual evidence based mostly on some persons long and distant memory. It's a bit disturbing honestly.

Well, that's always the case for sure, but that always makes for better theatre (ironically). But it was hard to tell from your comment that that's what you meant.

I will agree with you to an extent. I think there are some genuine accusations being made that warrant looking into but when it turns into a dog piling I start to wonder myself. On the other hand, Hollywood has never been what you would call a squeaky clean town. The narcissism and bad behavior that runs rampant in the industry has been going on all the way back to the days of the silents. Hell, there was a famous trouble shooter for RIKO studios (there's a movie coming out or just recently did starring George Clooney that tells his story) who would routinely use enforcer methods to keep bad news out of the press, get Hollywood stars out of jail etc etc. Bad behavior from something as little as treating gofers like crap to outright murder have been going on since the dawn of the industry and a lot of practices such as the "casting couch" process and treating women like objects are part of a culture that is pretty damn rank in many ways.

There was a lady that accused Dustin Hoffman of sexual harassment on the set of the televised play of Death of a Salesman in which he said and did some pretty uncouth things but in the end she actually had a good take on it (mainly because by and large Hoffman is a good guy) but he at one point came up to her and yelled at her for "badmouthing" him but he eventually apologized. Anyways she said she liked Hoffman "until she didn't". In the final analysis Hoffman may be a pig but she likes him.

I have a feeling most of the people being accused of bad behavior right now are low lives compared to Hoffman though.

But it speaks again to this Hollyweird narcissistic trait/mentality that some have (naturally, as this is a good field for narcissists) of "my talent is far more important and therefore usurps and/or excuses my behavior." The Illuminati-type discussions around this area seem to carry more and more weight in my eyes because of it.
I really don't think this is limited to Hollywood. There's a lot of narcissistic people everywhere. Some have a bigger spotlight than others (politicians, actors, athletes, etc), but there are ton of self-absorbed people who will never come close to Hollywood or DC.

Regardless I don't see how this "speaks again" to narcissism anymore than it speaks to any other personality type or part of society.
