Re: Home Theater system Question
To get lossless audio you'd need a system that has HDMI inputs.Comment

Re: Home Theater system Question
I'd suggest Yamaha or Onkyo.

IMO, you want a system that has a dedicated HDMI receiver and powered subwoofer (auto room calibration is a nice feature as well).Comment

Re: Home Theater system Question
What changed since you got HD? Getting HD doesn't really change much unless it isn't hooked up correctly. You should only need a HDMI cable to pass the video and audio.Comment

Re: Home Theater system Question
So how would i go about hooking one up? I already have a HD cable from TV to DVR.Looking for friends on PSN. PM me your PSN if you want to become friendsComment

Re: Home Theater system Question
Im not using home theater right now. I have a samsung LED tv and a HDMI cable to my DVR reciever. The home theater i have dont have a HD hookup but does have a optical. I felt like the optical wasnt working right and it sounded like normal tv.Looking for friends on PSN. PM me your PSN if you want to become friendsComment

Re: Home Theater system Question
I've had that happen before. It's likely 1 of 2 things: 1) Your optical cable is broken and needs replacing or 2) The optical input on your HT device is broken.Comment

Re: Home Theater system Question
Im thinking of getting a little something but I live in an apartment and will for a few more years so can't have wires all over the place. Was thinking of getting one of the sound bar systems...anybody have one of these or know how good they are? Maybe I could go with a wireless surround sound system but if the bar is good would like one of those...thoughts?-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Re: Home Theater system Question
Get a nice Denon receiver open box from Best Buy which I got for about 320 and then get a 5.1 speaker system like the Energy Take Classic for about $400 or the Monoprice version for $250 which is the same speaker set but Monoprice put their own name on them...Not sure if that is legal or Energy allowed them to do that but you can get the same great $400 speaker set for $250 which comes with a dedicated power sub
It is a fantastic set up. But you need a good receiver to play loosless audio like Dolby True HD or HD Master Remix DTS
Optical can't do thatComment

A sound bar (especially with a decent subwoofer) will definitely be better than tv speakers, but if you're looking for true surround sound they don't come close to providing that.
The Sony soundbar + sub gets pretty good reviews.Comment

around/under 300..could go higher but not sure I really need to being in an apartment. Want good sound for sure but definitely don't need the best-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Re: Home Theater system Question
Something small 32" soundbar and sub for $100
http://www.amazon.com/Philips-CSS212...ords=sound+bar
If you want a 40" soundbar and wireless sub for $235
http://www.amazon.com/Vizio-SB4021M-...vizio+soundbar
IMO, I'd go with one of these 5.1 systems and simply not use the rear speakers if you don't want to run wires. These will provide more inputs, give you lossless audio and obviously MUCH better sound.
Onkyo 5.1 for $255

Yamaha 5.1 for $285 (has auto room calibration)
