I grew up watching All in the Family. This show was my 1st glimpse of how other people families lived.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

If you younger guys want to watch a pioneering show and haven't seen this, this is the one. At the time, this really set the bar for social commentary and challenging your political standpoints and value base. It had an interesting mix of hilarious moments along with the occasional sobering scene.
Jean Stapleton, who some may have only seen in the movie, Michael (Travolta), played her role brilliantly. Plus, she demonstrated a personal growth of the character over the many seasons it was on.
The only mistake the show made was that they let it on the air too long. I do believe that the Smithsonian Institute have the living room chairs of Archie and Edith housed for display.

Re: Jean Stapleton aka Edith Bunker died at age of 90
Pretty sad but isn't it ironic that on the show she died before Archie but in real life Archie died before her. Always loved that show though, this along with Good Times and The Jeffersons could take racial tensions of the day and make everyone laugh about it. The world is too pc for those shows now. Always classics though
I loved this show and still watch Good Times and the Jeffersons to this day.Comment

I grew up watching the show as well. The first five years were great, the later years and Archie Bunker's Place weren't so hot IMO. RIP.Comment

I shudder to look at the competition!
The episodes when she asserted herself were great....
