That'll keep your sanity intact. Apparently Lucas wanted to make Jar Jar a big part of the prequel trilogy but the backlash after the first movie made him shelve that idea.
Well, at least Lucas listened to the fans there. Jar Jar was a colossal failure. In a way I understand what Lucas was trying to do with the prequels (making Jar Jar the new C-3PO) but man, that character was just an awful choice.

I do think that the expectations for the prequels were so high that most of us Star Wars fans set ourselves up for nothing but disappointment. Still, there's some terrible writing in these movies, but also some that was/is really good. Lucas needed more of a filter, but since he pretty much did what he wanted, we wound up with some uneven movies.

I've certainly seen much worse movies than Episodes I & II (I really liked III), but they aren't movies I'd casually pick up just to watch.

id modify some ppls order slightly....ep 4, 5, 6, skip 1 (seriously), 2, 3. in all seriousness tho...1 was just horrible no ifs ands or buts about it imho. i gotta say i didnt have any issue with 2 and esp not 3.

You gotta start with 4 and end with 3. The ending of 3 just makes it a PERFECT bookend to the series.

            Definately 4-6 then 1-3.

There are fan edits out there that remove most of the suck from the prequels, making them much more enjoyable to watch (and considerably less time consuming).

                either 4-6 then 1-3, 1-6, or 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.

This. We just had a marathon at our house on Saturday and we skipped Episode I due to time constraints, but the order worked great. Perfect for new viewers and especially for revealing the saga to kids.

For someone who's never seen it though, 4-6 then 1-3 is the way to go IMO. I do think 4,5,1,2,3,6 AFTER one has seen it is a good order.

Just in case for the OP to avoid.

What's the benefit of watching it in the order of 4,5,1,2,3,6?

Honestly in my opinion 1 and 2 are pointless. If your just looking at the overall story, starting at 3 wouldn't be bad idea. I count that as the true prequal movie to the original trillogy.
