Dammit, all they have to say is "GOJIRA! GOJIRA!" Realism quota, filled.That's part of why I brought it up.
The other part is the fact that the trailer seems like they want to make it a "serious" Godzilla movie. To do that, in Toyko, having every single main character magically speak English just doesn't work. It takes away from the realism factor - and when there's a gigantic monster attacking a city, you need what realism you can get.

You should try to watch the original Gojira from 1954. DON'T watch the American cut version but rather the Japanese. It's a very serious film and has a lot of commentary embedded within it. The SFX as it pertains to Godzilla is very primitive but if you can get past it I think you'll have an appreciation for it.
