You should try to watch the original Gojira from 1954. DON'T watch the American cut version but rather the Japanese. It's a very serious film and has a lot of commentary embedded within it. The SFX as it pertains to Godzilla is very primitive but if you can get past it I think you'll have an appreciation for it.

It's by and large the MOST realistic Godzilla film made.

Yes, the 1954 black & white original is still the best G movie, with its serious approach. As for the many G sequels, nothing comes close to 1964's 'Mothra vs. Godzilla'.

That trailer was more awesome than the first one. I prefer his 1954 roar to the new one(it's more chilling), but that's just me.

Putting someone like Bryan Cranston in a monster movie/end of the world situation is pure brilliance. The guy is probably one of the best pure thriller actors in the world right now.

Also, the music is top notch. It's just so...haunting. Pretty awesome.

Here's a second cover for empire magazine.

I'm such a Godzilla Junkie, wish they had keep his face and most of him still under wraps until the movie officially released. And as people hate the American 1998 version, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I even remember the Hanna-Barbara cartoon back in the 90s.
