About the quality of this season and whether or not it should have been entirely set within Barney and Robin's wedding, I don't think that's an issue. I feel like the issue is that the show just isn't as funny as it once was, going back to Season 5 or 6 at the latest.

A lot of the jokes and bits this season have only been able to get a small laugh out of me as opposed to something like Robin Sparkles or Space Teens where I was pretty much in tears laughing.

I feel like around Season 7 the show started to become more of "dramedy" than what it was originally.

I disagree with you about the "dramedy" part. The show has always been very dramatic. That's what set it apart. I think the issue is that they have a harder time being organically funny. Ted, Robin, and Barney are all caricatures of what they used to be, so when they're asked to have a serious moment, it's not as impactful, and their comedy spots are too forced now. Marshall, who used to be a very funny character, somehow became the straight man, and the chemistry you used to see between him and the other characters isn't as strong.

It's still a pretty good show. It just isn't quite what it used to be. These last few episodes though, have been fantastic.

I never watched HIMYM for the comedy anyway. I always watched because the story and concept was incredibly unique. That's why I don't care for the episodes that have zero to do with the main plot.

I watched for both really. I thought the characters and story were great, as well as the comedy. The re-hashing of Ted and Robin really started to kill it for me though.

It just seemed no matter what relationship or where Ted was in his life, it somehow turned into a " but I'm still in love with Robin" thing. Instead of rooting for Ted I just stopped caring about his character.

I completely agree. This show should never have gone beyond five or even six seasons with the material they had.

I think main reason show was extended so long was mostly just cause CBS is running out of good shows to have. Look at all the new shows they had this season, so many have been(or will be) cancelled. And the new ones that are staying, aren't doing that great either.

They've cancelled 1 show (We Are Men), and only 2-3 others (4 if you count Hostages, but that was a limited run any way) are in danger of going bye bye. That's no different from any other network. CBS is certainly not on NBC's level (already cancelled 4 shows and a terrible history as of late) and ABC had it's flops this year as well (cancelled 4 and another 5-6 likely to say sayonara). If anything, CBS is on top of the major networks with their shows. FOX is somewhere in the middle.

I actually thought it was much more than that. But either way, HIMYM is ending early and CBS having new show starting as soon as possible this season, so that sounds to me like they're slightly desperate to find a new replacement and trying to find out as soon as possible what will work as a replacement.

On a diff note.....1 week from today is HIMYM finale day! Tonight is last episode before finale! Can't believe show is ending. Like someone else said, I wanna see the ending, but don't wanna see the show end(regardless of quality,it was still always nice to have HIMYM around)

I'm almost certain the song on the piano when she was walking down the isle was sandcastles in the sand.

                        If so, fantastic touch.

1(technically 2) more episode(s)! Don't know if I'll ever be able to watch HIMYM reruns again after the show ends, not cause I don't like them, but it always seems strange watching reruns of shows that recently ended.

                          lol, and the ring BEAR!

What a journey. Can't believe it's almost over.

Why wasn't Robin's sister one of the bridesmaids? You would think if Patrice was a bridesmaid, her sister would be one. And her sister was at the wedding. Not an important question, but just something I thought was weird.
