They had to film the stuff with the kids because the kids would obviously get older than they were throughout the other 2030 shots so it wouldn't make sense.

Also...What if the show got cancelled. Like lets say after season 3 the show got cancelled or something. Meaning HIMYM never got a proper ending or anything, would they have revealed how the show would've ended(since they already filmed the final scene), or would the footage that was recorded just be part of the long lost videos never to be seen(and maybe even just destroyed).

That is my one complaint about the episode. I didn't like that part at all.

And meant WAY more.

Then if a fan wants to think that he should go after Robin now, then they can think that. And if they want to imagine The Mother as "his one lotto win" then they can think that too. But instead they went with some goofy, stupid joke stuff where the kids just heard the entire damn story of how he met their mother and instead of a tear in their eyes they just moved on and said "Oh, okay then, GO AFTER AUNT ROBIN NOW! **** our mom!"

How you can't see why people are upset or at the very least not understanding why is beyond me, because I certainly understand your side.
I guess I shouldn't have said that. I can see why people are upset. I just think the outrage is a bit overblown. That's kind of what I was trying to get at.

Lol come on man it's a tv show. We don't know the characters, what they say and do is all we have to go on. The entire show is someone retelling a story, by that logic, nothing in the show that happened is correct. It could be made up.

I think Robin and Barney should have stayed together. They were both misfits with serious psychological, personality issues and I could have just as easily seen them paired off to "cure each other."

I love that having the kid ended up taming Barney, but the divorce and post-divorce completely pissed away years of HIS character development too.

Imagine if something else happened like Lilys 3rd kid is actually Barney-Robins kid(so she's a surrogate for them), that would've been cool to see. And then they could still have the same moment with Barney and the kid at the hospital.

I agree, but in that specific situation it is very likely that Robin could have lied. It was obvious that Ted was never going to get over her if she said that she loved him, and by saying no she helped to get him to move on from her.

I don't think the divorce pissed away too much because it was such an awful relationship/marriage to begin with. There was no way Robin/Barney was ever going to last.

The post-device stuff was stupid and predictable. Barney relapsed and stayed 25 years old until he had his out-of-wedlock daughter. That was bad though the scene with his daughter was touching.

Didn't somebody(I think on this forum) joke about it months ago about how bad of an ending it'd be if the show just ended with the mother dying and Ted-Robin just ending up together? Part of me feels like I heard that being one of the hundreds of diff theories thrown around.

I know it was a bad pairing but they invested in it and Barney's character seemingly evolved because of it so the viewer had no choice but to take that evolution of character as fact.

The biggest issue of all has yes to be addressed!!

Since he was absent in the finale, I ask you all...what was the point of Bob Saget having ANYTHING to do with this show?

I'm going to assume he was just how Ted assumed he sounded in his head. The way everyone thinks they sound different when they speak as opposed to when they hear themselves in a video, on the phone, etc.

Why didn't the Mother cry during the flash-forward scene about being at your daughter's wedding?

Should have just ended it with the umbrella. The show was about meeting the mother. The extra flash forwards to tie up story lines didn't need to be done. Should have let the audience decide for themselves if they think Barney and Robin stayed together.

Everything they did would have been fine if they just didn't call it How I Met Your Mother. Call it Ted's life or anything else if you are going to end it like that. You can't call it that and then skip over the most important point. If you show the important stuff, you could show Ted moving on after the death. It would be ok for him to go back to Robin, she moves back to NY, stops traveling as much, etc.

You just can't end the show the way it was edited. If you have more stuff than time, then tell CBS to open more time up. You could also have cut crap about Barney going back to his old ways. Cut other Robin being gone and sightings.
