He wouldn't do that to his best friend, he'd only go back to her in the future? Does that make it better?

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 9 (The Final Season)
Glad someone said that. I'm not digging through the past few pages of war zone and rioting to see what people have and haven't said. Ted said when Robin wanted to run away with him that he wouldn't break them up. Guess what? He didn't... unless that was something we lost in that 15-20 year jump. They divorced.
And standing outside someone's window with a blue french horn doesn't mean instantly they are together. Yes, more than likely it is the happily ever after and Robin already said Ted is the one she should have been with, so you can go on about "Well she didn't want kids," and yadda yadda. It's been years. Pretty sure their situation has changed.
Do I agree that they just kind of passed the Mother over there at the end? Yes. However, I'm the first to mention this...
The beginning of season 8 when we find out where he'll meet the mother. You guys do know the song playing in the background is called "The Funeral" right? Sure, it's not the saddest song, but when you pick a song that sings about a death, if that's not foreshadowing...Comment

Remember that episode where Ted isn't working and serves as Marvin's "nanny"? A little foreshadowing to his ability to be a single parent...Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 9 (The Final Season)
Looking back on the show now, there's lots of things people can say was "foreshadowing" to certain parts in the story. Barney still being Barney when he was like 80 could've been another "foreshadowing moment" since it turns out he is living that same lifestyle later in his life.Comment

Ah, I just searched the thread and just skimmed the posts that were returned; most mentioned the lack of the Mother's funeral. Like I said, I wasn't going to read all 5 or 6 pages of mayhem that have happened since.Comment

The whole convince his kids for him to get together with robin was a real Ted move, but really wish they would of gave the pineapple explanation.

Because I saw how much he loved her. Now they are finally together and she gets it now too. In the end they have always been there for each other.Comment

Re: How I Met Your Mother: Season 9 (The Final Season)
I've been reading through this slowly over the past few days and really have to echo what most of the let-down are feeling.
I became a big fan of the show back in the fall of 2010. I did so to the point that I went back and "caught up" on the storyline in late 2011 so that I could be up to speed with some of the continuity jokes.
The biggest thing to me was that we had such a grand buildup to meeting the mother (Which I get it, that is the name of the show, but . . .) they glossed over the death like it was no big deal. Sure, we can see the foreshadowing but a show like this that has been so light-hearted with some deep moments here and there, it just felt really disjointed at the end.
Not to mention (and this could be the film student in me talking) but the sequence going back and forth between Ted and the kids was one of the most horribly-edited things I've seen in a long time. I know they shot the kids back in season 2. I get that. But go ahead and put some "back and forth" shots of the back of Ted's head with the kids in it and the back of the kids' heads in front Ted. That way, it wouldn't have felt like Ted was telling this story "Live via satellite."
It was awful. Not to mention, they seemed to be going for funny and shock jock there, but it felt too forced. I think the mediocre acting of the kids in the scene didn't help that either. It was just bad and felt hurried.
Crap, I might have not had such a hard time with it had it not been for that sequence. On top of all that, the last three minutes or so where he just rushes to Robin with the blue french horn. While I get it and understand the significance, the Lloyd Dobler felt forced.
And maybe I'm being over-critical but dang it . . . I had to lay two friends to rest within the span of a few days!! First Psych and then HIMYM!?!? How much can a dude take!?
Thank God for Modern Family, The Goldbergs and Mind Games. They're still there for me.Sports are good.
