Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

Pretty sure they stopped issuing the Netflix offer as it got much more demand than they anticipated. At least according to the latest press releases.

You are not the target audience. It's for people with non-smart sets that want to stream internet content for a third of the price of a Apple TV or Roku 3. It doesn't and shouldn't replace any of your current gear.

Also, it would be a cheap way to outfit all of the tvs in a house.

      4 x $35 (chrome) vs. 4 x $99 (Roku 3/Apple TV) vs. 4 x $200-400 (360 or PS3)

        Re: Google Chromecast

Finally got mine sometime last week. It's a really neat device but I'm not liking that I have to adjust the resolution on my computer just so it displays right (not slightly stretched, cut off, etc) on TV. Is there a way to not have that happen?

Also figured out a little workaround to make a chrome tab full screen yet still maintain functionality on my computer----ALT+TAB after making something full screen.

Most annoying is the fact that Chrome doesn't play every file type that is drag-dropped into the browser. Is there an extension or something that allows avi, wmv files to play? It's pretty ridiculous that my other option would be to convert every video file I have just to get it to work.

Video streaming quality is not the best overall but it's doable if need be.

Really hoping for expansion of development. The potential is awesome.

Ordered mine back on Aug 22. Finally says shipping. Should have it buy Wednesday. Ended up being $30 after a $5 AMZ Promo credit.

Turning on the auto-resizing option and turning off fullscreen zoom has worked in most cases for me.

                  Re: Google Chromecast

I have an HDMI splitter that has my DTV and the Chromecast both hooked up to it.

Every night around 2, 2:30am Pacific, the damn thing automatically switches from my DTV to the input with the Chromecast because, I think, the Chromecast is restarting or refreshing or something. Then I have to get up and press the button on the splitter to switch it to the DTV HDMI slot.

                  Any way to stop this?

That's the downside to switches with auto-sensing capability. Is that the only HDMI port on that TV?

Yeah it is. That's why I had to get the splitter.

Hm, I wonder if it'll switch over automatically if I start to broadcast a browser to the Chromecast.

I just hate having to get up to switch it back, lol. Too bad I can't program my remote to do it.

Only works with certain apps and the only web-browser it works with is Chrome which doesn't support Flash, a big turn off for me, I still may get it for $35 though. Wish their was a wireless device that will just display what ever is on my phones screen.

I've loaded flash sports streams in Chrome and broadcasted it to my TV so I don't know about the "no flash" thing.

Question about Chromecast Chrome Tab Streaming. How does it work? And can you view Flash videos with it?

How was the quality? Might change my mind with your answer. LOL

It was nothing special. Same somewhat crappy stream that's on your computer, just on your TV.

It does the job if you need to be watching the streams in the first place, let's say that. It's just nice to not be confined to your laptop to watch it.

I'll be using it all the time this hockey season instead of doing Centre Ice, which I had last season but didn't get much mileage out of it due to work hours, etc.
