I am going to have two separate types of spoilers, the first is just related to the show, the second is comic spoilers.

This episode was solid, but this should have been done last year, literally zero reason to drag out the Governor storyline. Yeah we got those two gov centric episodes as a result, but literally everyone from those two episodes (with the exception of the Govs GF) died.

Also the daryl zombie shield was laughable. The walker's heads are soft enough that any impact, no matter how hard, destroys their entire skull and their head essentially explodes, yet they act as perfect shields for assault rifle attacks? Come on.

So I wonder where they will go from here. Negan is the best villain of the comic series IMO 100x better than the governor, but he is too similar to move onto from the gov right away. Plus his language in the comic might make his TV adaptation suck in comparison.

I am sure they will spend a lot of time reuniting the group, as they did in the comics sort of. If I remember correctly they started heading to DC to meet with a scientist to help find a cure, and then they ran into Morgan. Both of these storylines were sort of already handled in the show, so thats out. Maybe they go with the cannibal hunter storyline?

-All season long there have been hordes of walkers at the fences and suddenly they're all gone? Even after they fire a tank shell?
- Rick can beat anyone up, including a very angry 250lb+ Tyrese, but can't take a 170 lb, one-eyed former fax machine repairman?
- Tyrese's daughter(?) can't even make herself walk outside, but suddenly she's in a gun battle and running around saving others?
- how many times has Rick risked life and limb to search for a lost loved one, but didn't take 2 seconds to see if Judith was still alive?
"Well, there was blood on her car seat - where she was STRAPPED IN - so I'm going to assume that the walking dead, who can't navigate over a pot hole, were able to unstrap her and make a nice snack out of my daughter.
I'm sure that blood was hers, and not secondary blood during the massive shoot-out we just had".

Season 1 was by far the best season so far and it's not even close.

What bothers me, is after watching shows like Game of Thrones and Ray Donovan, I can't help but wonder what HBO would have been able to do with this series.

I hope they fire all their writers and get back to people that could actually write themselves out of a paper bag.

I can't say this enough, but I'm going to cheer loudly on the day they [hopefully] kill Rick and Carl off.

Why would you watch a show that has, in your opinion, writing that is complete crap?

Maybe I'm easier to please than some of you folks, but I thought that episode was fantastic, loved it.

Yeah, there are some things that happen that are questionable as far as realism goes, like Darryl's walker shield, but if you get worked up over a 3 second clip of an hour long show, you're trying too hard to find things wrong with a tv show.

I'm happy with the way this episode went. Things should be intense when they're back out on the road!

As for the episode itself, this was a pretty good one. Thought we'd lose some more people though. Awesome parallel to the events of the original comic too. Looking forward to the return

Really good episode fitting mid season finally. Is it February yet?!

Edit: Two things I'm going to nitpick

Lots of bad shooters in that episode. I would think you would really want to pick your shots and not just blow threw all those bullets so fast.

I also didn't like the zombie sponge that Daryl used. With all the the bullets exiting the zombie i think Daryl would have been hit and killed.

...especially since alot of outstanding plot elements got reconciled tonight: the Governor is dead and Rick and the gang are on the run again now that the prison has been overrun. I'm looking forward to the change of scenery for the 2nd half of the season, now that the group is out in the open again.

This is pretty much how Season 3 should have ended and I think the writers realized that by replaying the Governor vs. the prison showdown.

Maybe I need to use this time to finally read the comic. Either way that was one of the best episodes overall imo. I agree that it should have happened last season but now better than ever right? Also, what is the last we have heard from Morgan in the show? When Rick went back looking for supplies?

It was looking for supplies at around the middle of Season 3 with Michonne and Carl.

Morgan joined up with them in the comics at that time, but who knows if he will in the show. Dale lasted a while and he died at Hershel's farm in Season 2. I expect the Hunters to be shown at the end of the season as the new villians, because no way they have Negan yet. Negan's so similar to how the Governor operated, I doubt he will be introduced just yet.

I ask myself this every time I watch this show.
Season 1 had me sucked in bigtime. But then Season 2 sucked, Season 3 wasn't bad and now Season 4 has been mediocre.

It's just like "Lost". By the 4th season I was starting to wane, but you put in so much time on the show that you want to see how it ends.

So that's my Catch-22. Do I finish the show knowing that I'll be annoyed by all the inconsistencies, poor writing, horrible acting, and characters you'd prefer to die?

The fact that both he and Carl started bawling and neither mentioned a word about making future plans to confirm her death had me pretty convinced they both think she's dead.

Personally, I absolutely loved the episode. It was one of the best in the series, in my opinion.

I also noticed some of the inconsistencies as well, but honestly those have always been there. Things like huge hoards popping up out of no where happen all of the time, so whats the big deal with them disappearing for once? Honestly, I would have rather them started by hearing a barrage of gun fire, then the tank boom. The gunfire could have been the killing the Walkers around the fence, with that said it just wasn't a big deal to me.

I think Judith is alive with Darryl being the one who likely grabbed her. Ty or the medic guy could be possibilities, as well. If she's dead, then I don't really mind that too much either. I'm really looking forward to the second half of the season. The episode with Rick and Carol outside of the prison was one of my favorites this season, simply because it was refreshing to see members of the group outside of the prison setting. It will be nice to see the groups split up and having to find new ways to survive. February can't get here soon enough!

I think it's either Darryl or Stookey as well. The carrier had bloody handprints on it and I think those were the only two characters other than Rick and Michonne to get blood on their hands. I guess it could be Michonne since she kind shaded off after she killed the Gov. Hope they resolve it in the first episode in Feb though. Unless they make Rick go psychotic, I don't think I could handle more mopy mush mouth Rick.
