Re: Wow Regular TV Sucks!!
I just got DirecTV back after going a little more than a year with no dish/cable. For the most part, I did OK and didn't feel like I was missing too much as I could still watch sports on the main channels, but obviously, I was stuck with whatever game was airing at the time.
It's nice to have the ability to flip between 2-3 games at a time now, and, now that I've moved away from Denver, I don't have the ability to attend as many sporting events in person, so I needed to get the dish back so I could watch the Avs, Rockies and Nuggets games.Currently Playing:
MLB The Show 25 (PS5)Comment

If you order stuff regularly from Amazon, might be worth getting prime for the free 2 days shipping and also get their movie/tv show service.Comment

Re: Wow Regular TV Sucks!!
The one benefit to antenna TV is if you live on the border between different broadcast regions, you can pickup two separate sports games on the same network.
I used to live halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta, and on Sundays, I could pickup CBS' Titans games on one channel and CBS' national game of the week on another channel.Comment

I think im going to try Hulu Plus. But I just got through looking at the networks on Hulu Plus, one thing I don't understand. They don't have all the episodes for a particular season of a show? I mean if you're only going to have the latest season at least have all the shows in that season, whats up with that?Last edited by ghettogeeksta; 09-20-2013, 02:48 AM.Comment

Going to see how this Chromecast Tab Casting works, seems like I should be able to cast video to your TV right from the networks website which is free.Comment

Re: Wow Regular TV Sucks!!
I had a hard time living without my morning Sportscenter ritual when I first moved away from cable. My cable abandonment kind of coincided with my own perceived downfall of Sportscenter's quality though, so the separation went smoother than anticipated.
I admit non-cable is largely full of things I have no interest in 98% of the time. As mentioned, it's a lot of syndicated TV series I don't like, daytime talk shows, awful reality talent shows, and CBS. But all that's really done is draw me away from the television, which I'm more than okay with.
The funny thing, and this may come out sounding pretentious, but when I'm residing in someone's house who has HD Xfinity, I often scroll through all the possible channels and still can't find something I'm truly interested in watching. It just re-affirms my previous decision to part ways with that type of television. There's still shows I like, but Netflix seems to cover that base if I'm really in need of watching something.Comment

Re: Wow Regular TV Sucks!!
I would consider getting rid of satellite, but the problem is losing USA, TNT, FX, and the big 4 sports networks and access to a ton of college football. I can use a friends ID to get Watch ESPN to pick up a lot of it, but not the same video quality as satellite. Buying sports packages would cancel out several of the bills I'd save. And then I'd have to at least get Hulu. And then having a DVR is a lot more convenient than setting up your own home media PC and getting that working right. I can afford it, so why get rid of it?Comment
