    Oh, I hate it.

    Just the same, I also hate "burned-in" lighter sides on my screen (see my family's old plasma that's now in the den).

    Also equivalently, I hate non-HD (or 4:3) content in general.

    If he has an LCD, he should go 4:3 all the way on non-HD stuff. Stretched out look is garbage.

        Some channels are probably not going to have an HD sister channel. Also, for shows being broadcast in HD on your HD channel, but it's being broadcast in 4:3 aspect, they'll just give you some type of sidebars.
