SpoilerI loved catching the foreshadowing in the movie after having read the book. I had forgotten about the dance with Plutarch
Anyone know of a list out there that shows what the movie left out?Comment

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
Caught the film and I must say, I'm very very impressed! I liked the first movie but Catching Fire was on a whole 'nother level. I didn't want the movie to end after 2.5hrs. If not for the cliffhanger ending, I'd rate it a 10/10; not that cliffhangers are bad per se but because there could have been a bit more closure and still leave us wanting to see the next movie right away.
Anyone else notice how Finnick was basically Aquaman with the trident and all? The guy who played Aquaman on Smallville was also in the movie.
Is the third book going to be split-up into two like most series-enders these days? Saw on IMDB that it will be split into two. Can't wait for Mockingjay 1 next year!Comment

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw Finnick... That dude needs to play aquaman. Loved the movie also and I thought the first one was really good but Catching Fire is for sure better. Favorite movie of the year for me.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
Yeah the book ends with a cliffhanger so that was my expectation all throughout. I actually like where they ended it and didn't give a glimpse into the next book/movie like they could have.
Anyone going to go back and read Book 2? I think I'm going to because there are some things i forgot about that others mentioned in this thread. He movie was spectacular, I may have to see it again.

I actually think he's one of the better actors in this one considering the material he was given in Hunger Games. I call Peeta my boy now - requite that unrequited love, playa!Comment

He'd have to be given "Full Metal Jacket / Matthew Modine" level material for me to believe that. I don't think he has a range.Comment

He did a real good job empathizing with him and I felt bad for the dude through out.
The cast was superb. I honestly can't think of one bad character, every one brought it and Jennifer Lawrence is a superstar. She flat our killed it and was enough for me just for her performance let alone a bang up job by everyone else.Last edited by RockinDaMike; 11-25-2013, 02:39 PM.Comment

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
I agree, the first movie i thought he didn't do a great job but he definitely grew in this one and did really well. The chemistry between him and Jennifer Lawrence was on point the whole movie.

SpoilerThey left a lot of what was compelling about Peeta's character in book one in the first movie, but I felt the writing to be much better this time around.
Now, that said, I thought it was very good. Better than the first film. Did much better character development-wise. You would think that since I read the books, I'd be unsurprised with everything that happens, but that was certainly not the case, and I credit the writing for that as well. Though, I thought the second book to be my favorite anyhow, so I'm not looking at it through the most fair lens. The third book was by far the weakest in my opinion, so I'm not thrilled by the thought of them stretching it into two movies, but who am I?
Also agree that the cast as a whole was superb. Johanna was fantastically played (she was a well-written character by Collins in the first place, IMO, but the actress who played her totally knocked it out of the park.) and Ceasar was played superbly. Loved every minute he was involved with (and I didn't find him to be overly well-written in the books, so that's definitely saying something.). And I enjoy pretty much every performance that Woody Harrelson as ever given in a movie. So him as Haymitch was as superb as it was the first time around. But, as mentioned, Jennifer Lawrence totally steals the show. I really think that this was a well cast movie.
Also, side note, before the movie, they showed the Divergent Trailer. I am now super excited for that movie.Last edited by mb625; 11-28-2013, 12:37 AM.MLB: Minnesota Twins

10/10 5 stars for me. I actually liked it better than the first movie. While I was a little disappointed they didn't expand on Haymitch's background I thought the movie was absolutely fantastic. My Girl Jennifer Lawrence kicked some serious ***.
On a side note I can't stand Liam Hemsworth in this movie. With his pretty boy face, and good looks. You don't deserve her Liam
