Yeah, the premiere didn't do so well in the ratings. Well, compared to the series premiere. About on par with the rest of the episodes though.Comment

They should put season 1 on Netflix. I think that would get more people watching it and improve the ratings for Season 2.Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 2 (premieres 2/26)
If I'm not in a Nina love making scene let's get through it quick. OK, she's duped Stan, and no telling how she feels about him. I get that it's a necessary element to this season's arc, and will pay dividends later, but it would help if they had 1/10th the chemistry that spark Elizabeth and Phillip. I realize that's not unique to this episode, just venting.
Too much time with adolescence. Paige's journey ate up a good bit of the clock and consoling the orphan seemed like it ate up much more. OK, she burned the letter, but she shouldn't of even considered the other option in the first place.
The show is at it's best when the two leads are interacting and Stan isn't making goo goo eyes at Nina. The spy stuff was pretty tame, although I wouldn't have been shocked if Elizabeth used the crowbar.Comment

Do you think Elizabeth:
Spoilerburned the letter because:
1) She didn't want to risk blowing their cover (and I'm speaking about the Soviet spies in general, not just the Jennings); or
2) She thought knowing the truth about his parents would do more harm than good to the son
3) a little bit of both?Comment

Re: The Americans - Season 2 (premieres 2/26)
The most interesting part of this episode was the concern felt by both Elizabeth and Philip toward their affected parties. Martha and the kid are innocents, but the show most go on.
SpoilerEpisode 8 is titled "New Car" so against Elizabeth's wishes the family will apparently get one....or not.
Stan telling Philip about his affair highlights how he has carelessly compromised himself because of his lust* for Nina.
*that's what I think it is.Comment
