Re: Late Nite TV
I only saw the last few monologue jokes, but it was nice that he looked around to the crowd more instead of the intense camera-staring that he did on Monday. Probably just a Weekend Update habit more than anything else. I still hate his delivery though. There's just too much of an obvious pause between set-up and punchline.
I like the personal stories he's done on the first two nights, and the audience bit was 10x better than the Venn diagram thing.Comment

Today Stephen Colbert was confirmed to take over for David Letterman.
I don't know what it is but I can't stand that guy.Comment

Re: Late Nite TV
Selfishly I wanted Colbert to do The Report for the rest of his life, because I love that show with all of my heart.
So today sucks. I'm happy for him, but it sucks.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

It's going to be really interesting to see Stephen Colbert as normal talk-show host guy and not satirical conservative guy.Comment

Re: Late Nite TV
I'm not a big fan of Colbert's style but from what i've seen of him "out of character" he's a pretty good, well rounded type that will do well on the show. He'll provide a freshness that show has been lacking for some time.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Glad to see Stephen Colbert taking over for David Letterman. I was already used to not laughing at anything that appeared on that program.Comment

Re: Late Nite TV
1) It'll be interesting to see how Stephen Colbert "plays" Stephen Colbert, as opposed to his "role" on The Report or his performances on the cult fav "Strangers With Candy"...
2) I wonder how Craig Ferguson feels about it? Did he ever have a legit shot at this?
In any event, after the Daily Show, I usually just bounce back and forth between the "Two Jimmies" these days and I don't see that changing in light of this...Comment

Re: Late Nite TV
Craig seems legitimately happy where he's at. Not in a PR-friendly "Everything's fine" way, but like he really, really likes the place he's in. Seems to enjoy the freedom that comes with the late-late slot.Comment

Well, so much for that.
Craig Ferguson announced today that he has decided to step down as host of THE LATE LATE SHOW in December 2014.Comment

More detailed article in Variety:
The CBS latenight host also is resigned to the fact that few people will believe his assertion that he began thinking about ending his run on the show as long as two years ago, but he re-upped after CBS persuaded him to stick around a little longer. Early this year, he began laying the groundwork for his exit, before he had any idea that Letterman was preparing to announce his plan to retire in 2015.
“It wasn’t contentious. I was just like, ‘I feel like I’m done,’ ” Ferguson told Variety. “We were all fine and were tying up loose ends. And then Dave surprised everybody with the (April 3) announcement and that threw a spanner in the works. And I had to sit and keep my mouth shut while speculation raged wildly.”
