The problem was that in the US during the fall, football overruns would push the start time of the show back to anywhere between 8:35 and 8:50. So you never knew when it was going to start, and had to program your DVR for an extra hour. Then in the Spring, you had golf and March Madness overruns. So it wasn't that 8:00 is too late, it's that the show was starting late and at random times each week. That wouldn't be a problem in Canada, but it was for the entire east half of the US.
