Really excited about this. Looks like it will mostly be about Jason and his family.

They're rebooting the series again? Didn't they just reboot it once all ready?

I really don't know how these movies will work on network TV, with the gore and stuff...Might fit better on Showtime or HBO where they can do nudity?

Just have trouble seeing this series as a tv show, I dunno.

Gore should be fine. Walking Dead does a good job at this (although think how good it would be on HBO). Nudity doesn't really matter.

The movie in 2009 was a reboot, done by New Line, Paramount, and Platinum Dunes, but now its strictly in the hands of Paramount and Platinum Dunes after a deal that gave New Line the rights so some other movie. So I guess when different people are involved they want their own reboot. Its been all but confirmed the new movie next year will be found footage, which is a huge disappointment, but back to the TV show.

I don't really think the series will need a ton of blood, gore, and nudity. It seems it will be more story driven than for shock value.

If done right, the story of Jason and the Voorhees family can be very interesting imo.

Yeah, It was generally pretty bad. It had nothing to do with the Movies or Jason. Although it did end up having a connection as one of the cast members (John D. LeMay) was in the series and then was one of the main characters in Jason Goes To Hell.

EDIT: I just realized he may have been talking about the old series when he mentioned rebooting the series.

But like I said above, the original TV series had nothing to do with the movies.

I was a kid at the time, but I really liked the series. It had nothing to do with Friday the 13th the movies, but for a low budget show in the 80's that was on in the middle of the night, it was damn good.

Warehouse 13 was/is much better. But you're right, there were some good episodes. And John D. LeMay is a good actor.

You can say the exact same thing about Norman Bates, wouldn't surprise me if the series borrowed heavily from how that show is recreating the character's history.

Did you read the links or just want to bash the series?

Its not going to just be about how he "died" Its going to delve into the story of his mother and him and different time periods. And its also going to be about how the kids deal with his return.

But at least Bates was a grown man in the Psycho movies, so the series takes you back to when he was young.

Jason died as a kid but came back as a soul-less killer.

So like I said, what's left to tell? Unless we'll learn more about his mother, say, how she met his father etc.?

Between everything Psycho and everything Friday the 13th, we already had a very clear picture of the lives of Jason Voorhees, Norman Bates, and their respective families. In the case of Norman, they threw out pretty much all of what was already established about pre-original movie Norman and just made their own new, arguably more interesting, story.

Growing up as a kid of the 80s nudity mattered in horror films....it won't be the same on network TV.
