Re: Sons of Anarchy [Season 7]

This show is suffering from its addiction to killing off characters. Opie was an awesome character. I thought Hale was great, and Roosevelt was a decent enough replacement, but they killed him off too. I even thought Piney brought something to the show, even though he was always on the periphery.

Above all though, even though SOA has always been about Jax's "story," Clay was always the most important character to me, at worst 1a to Jax. Basically writing him out of last season (up until the point they actually killed him) and having him (obviously) completely gone this year has damaged this show very badly.

Ever since we found out very early on that Clay and Gemma were behind JT's death, the backdrop of the show was always about Jax eventually finding that out; it was supposed to be the climax of the entire series. Except he found out about it a couple seasons ago, and there was never a big payoff, and the show has dragged on.

The first few seasons were A+ top of the line awesome to me. But Sutter's addiction to killing his characters robbed it of momentum over the last couple years. Now it's just a "whatever" show to me. I'll still watch it every Tuesday until it's over, but it lost something these last couple seasons.

Best thing I got out of last night's episode.

Re: Sons of Anarchy [Season 7]

Last season started off worse than this one (and I'm still upset nothing further came from the school shooting) and it ended up being the best season in the series imo. Building things up really benefited the show opposed to earlier seasons when alot of the shockers happened relatively earlier.

I do agree that they killed off the wrong characters at times and stuck a little too close to the source material. The Juice storyline really hasn't found its footing yet but when/if it does, I think that's an explosive situation. And I think the main focus, which is Jax redeeming or falling in a hopeless situation is right on course as unlikable as he may be now.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

Can they just kill Jax off so we can get my wish of a show centered around August Marks. Stupid Jax is my least favorite Jax.

Happy is the only likeable character left on the show for me. My perfect ending would be a close shot of him with like a dozen fresh smiley face tattoos, and then zooming out to show the entire rest of the cast dead around him. To be honest, I think I'd be content watching an hour long episode of Happy just running errands around Charming.

I was down with Chibbs, but he's basically just Bobby part 2 at this point. Just being all sullen all the time and going along with Jax's idiotic plans. I guess I like Nero alright, but that probably has more to do with the fact that I like Jimmy Smits.

Nero is the only guy I like and awaiting everyones death. I'm still holding on that Juice will be the last son standing. This guy doesn't know how to die.

This season has been pretty bad so far. Honestly, at this point I'm just tuning into see Gemma die... Everything else is filler to me.

I don't even think it's been bad. It's just been...uninteresting so far. I still fully expect **** to hit the fan soon and for all of us to be glued to the TV.

Clay was ruined before his death, so I didn't care. His willingness to kill Tara was the low point of many low points. Before season four his big sin was not trusting Opie and in an attempt to kill him Donna got it. In his defense Stahl made it look like Opie was a rat. After season 3 it was all downhill for Clay. Even Perlman had a problem with the depths his character had taken. In the fantastic season 3 finale, with Stahl and Irish guy eliminated, the jubilation shared between Jax, Clay and others on the bus was the best feel good moment of SOA and the Clay-Jax realtionship could have been restarted. However Sutter quickly demonized Clay (Hamlet...Bah!Humbug) and the show was not the better for it.

I think Hale, Roosevelt, and Piney were expendable. Killing a guy like Opie off (Sutter struggled with this, because the character and actor were beloved, but Sutter is kind of addicted) would have meant more if it reaped something other then Jax in a blind killing rage. We are now seeing a rehash of that as it relates to Tara's death.

All due respect guys, if Happy is your favorite character, then this show has really bottomed out for you.

I faintly remember a few on OS complaining a few seasons ago because no one significant was actually dying.

I don't see a problem with it, right now. I don't think killing Clay was a problem, it's the fact that they waited until he wasn't significant at all to kill him. He should have went out sooner, especially when everyone and their mother watching wanted him dead.

This season has been too predictable. They need a curve ball to spice up things.

Yeah, but I thought this episode was pretty good. The gullibility of the "One-Niners malcontents" was a stretch. I beginning to think the TV audience is the only one that realizes how deadly the Sons are.

I was under the impression she was interested in Chibs. Pretty nice for an older lady.

I hate the way they use the kid that plays Abel.

Weird opinion of the show, but damn the scenes involving that kid speaking bother the hell out of me.

The scene with the one niner faction that broke off was unbelievably predictable.

I thought this was the best show so far. It's slowly starting to build momentum again. A lot happened in this episode as far as the layout of the streets go.
