TV/Movie Events That Will Happen In the near Future?

Just something I thought of and figured I'd make a thread for it. TV Shows and Movies at times have scenes or even longer from a year in (what at the time is) "the future". Sometimes it could be something way far off like happening in the year 3000. Other times we might see something random like a show in 1999 have a scene from the future, which is actually 2015 or something.

So what are some events in movies or tv shows people can think of,that took place in the near future(meaning within next 5 years).

Back to the Future for example, predicted Cubs win world series in 2015.
They stated it'd be against Miami which obviously can't happen(though at the time of the movie,Miami/Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays never even exited yet!).

Another slight example I remember was a Simpsons episode in the early/mid 90s showing "the future" with Bart/Lisa grown up,and it was set in the year 2010. I remember on that date in 2010,it became a trending topic on the internet with people talking about that episode since it stated some date in 2010 was Lisas wedding or something.

Got to love Blade Runner's vision of 2019 Los Angeles. Just a little off!

I didn't mean it like that. I meant like if an episode(or scene) from a TV Show takes place in 2015, or a tv show/movie in the past actually does take place in 2017 or something, then mention it here.

I didn't mean to mention what tv show or movie you think the world might be like in the future.

            ... oh.

Well in terms of Zombieland, I would be trolling if I thought Eddie Van Halen would become a zombie.

And I think it's too late for Derek Jeter to be shot by a cop in the dugout tunnel now (The Other Guys).

They aren't the only movies to have failed. In Click, Michael Jackson is still alive and Britney Spears is still married to Kevin Federline.

This is hard to come up with good examples of on the spot.

I know its not supposed to be mentioned in this thread, but the "Double Dragon" movie took place in a post-apocalyptic San Francisco.
                  Spoiler
This movie was bad, so bad that it almost killed the video game to movie industry for everyone else.

Also, "X-Men" was set in the not so distant future. The movie started out with a message that said that on the screen. Plus, "X-men: Days of Future Past" was set in the future.
                  Spoiler
2 of my favorite Marvel superhero movies.

I don't know, but I'm not so sure that the title was supposed to be literal. I think it was more so that when it was released, the 21st century did seem a far ways off and the title refers more generally to the future, sort of like "1984" wasn't really about that particular year. They definitely got HAL correct though..... all of his sisters now reside in the automatic check out areas of grocery stores (just the way they say "thank you for shopping....." creeps me out!)

Related, I don't think Soylent Green (set in 2022) will reflect New York, though I might bet that some NY'ers would challenge me on that!

The book for 2001 was obviously slightly different than the movie, but they were written at about the same time, so perhaps it can shed some light. The book mentions the moon base was built in 1994 and the moon landing/monolith deal takes place in 1999 with the actual Jupiter setting taking place in 2001, IIRC. Of course, like I said, the movie and the book might be different in that regard.

Of course, in the movie, the monolith is orbiting Saturn, not Jupiter, so that's different, too.

In addition, 2010: Odyssey Two is set in 2010.

Frankly, a lot of the stuff in 2001: A Space Odyssey probably could have came true if we didn't seriously scale back on space exploration after the 1970s, but it is what it is.

Upon searching for an old post I stumbled upon this thread again.

Best one not yet mentioned has to be Family Guy and Caitlyn Jenner.

If anyone remembers Schwarzenegger in Stephen King's 1987 movie The Running Man ,
it's set around 2017. Predicted a worldwide economic collapse, & Hawaii to leave the the U.S.
I always thought it was a good little movie. Along with Ah-nold, had Jesse Ventura, Jim Brown, Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac), Dweezil Zappa & even Paul Abdul behind the scenes choreographing The Running Man dance troupe lol. Richard Dawson was awesome & probably had the best comeback to Arnold's classic "I'll be back". Dawson's response?
He tells Arnold "Only in a rerun". lmao
