    Re: Suicide Squad (2016?)

So a Harley movie is a gimmie, anyone seen any talk of Will Smith doing a Deadshot solo movie? I don't know much about that character outside of the movie (think I have the new #1s in a stack of books on my desk I haven't read yet), but could be a good opportunity to go into some more Batman characters like Red Hood? Begin building up that 2nd tier of heroes and villians to tap into for cameos in the larger movies?

Emergency Awesome I think it was suggested that Cyborg will probably be perpetually delayed as other hotter projects are fast tracked and given it's release slot. He's in Flash, maybe won't need his own film?

Sorry. After re-reading this I can see where it looks like I stepped over the line. Didn't mean to derail.

Deadshot doesn't have a comic in the new rebirth comics. You are probably thinking Deathstroke who I would love to see in the DCU in the future.

I would love a red hood adaptation in one of the batman films.

But went and saw it this weekend and it was enjoyable. Villain was meh but the rest of the movie was fun. Would probably give it a 4/5 which would be where most of the comic book movies have fallen for me this year. (Deadpool 5/5)

That is true and I've read it lol. I've probably spent way to much money on rebirth comics as I used them to jump back into comics. Plus have marvel unlimited to read marvel.

I will be interested to see how they advance the suicide comics because the first one of I remember split it in 2 one half for the story the other half was Deadshot back story.

It is possible. I haven't got them all. I haven't got any of the new superman or the Constantine books but I think I've grabbed the rest. Was just thinking I will just try them and drop the ones I'm not enjoying which hasn't been very many lol

I wish it was hitting on Blu-Ray the same day as digital. I always prefer physical media if I can get it, but I know I'm not gonna wait a month.

I figure I can wait till Christmas.

I wonder if they will have the 3D version as an extended cut as well, or if it will be the theatrical like BvS was.

                          Re: Suicide Squad (2016?)

Just saw this and tried to go in with an open mind despite some things I read in this thread. Overall, I think there was more not to like than to like. I'm certainly more a Marvel guy vs. DC, but would like a good enjoyable DC movie. I'm sure I'm in the minority re: Superman Returns, which I liked as much as MoS. But again, I'm not as familiar with these characters.

                          Pros:

                          *Will Smith's Deadshot
                          *Margot Robbie's Harley
*Leto's Joker (although Leto is pretty much good in any role)
*Also like how it started up overall

                          Cons:

*Viola Davis as Waller (just doesn't seem like a fit there)
*Character development of lack thereof (made it seem like there were several movies prior to this and we should have been familiar with most, if not all of them; e.g., I have no idea why Harley is so strong and resilient)
*Dialogue -- forced and weak more and more as the movie went along
*Main villians - seemed like something out of the Mortal Kombat movies; and the henchmen looked like they were wearing bad Halloween costumes.

Overall this seemed pretty over the top and thrown together. Future DC directors really need to take some pages out of the Marvel formula on how to handle so many multiple characters in a movie. They just know how to do it. I'm not saying Marvel is not without fault. I've always thought Capt. America was too rushed from the first movie right into the Avengers. IM2 and Thor2 were just bad, etc., etc. But Marvel handles the ensemble movies exceptionally well.

Would you say you had a problem with how Waller was written (one scene in particular) or the actual performance from Davis?

I definitely agree with your 4 pro's. I agree with the character development concern too, though I wonder how many people would go see a Killer Croc movie, or a Captain Boomerang movie. I feel they definitely banked on people knowing the characters from the comics before walking in more so than Marvel does, which I guess could be a good or bad thing depending on how a given movie handles that approach.

I am looking forward to the extended cut

For me she was ok in the very early going, but soon after she didn't bring in a convincing enough performance for me as being the hard *** I think she needed to be.

I'm fine with little to no explanation for Croc and Boomerang, but the explanation as to why Harley, a major character, could do the things she did left me confused.
