Ashleigh was asking me about that while I was watching it. She's like "why is she so upset because he's taking his wig off?"

Martha is going to crack I'm afraid. I understand Philip's reasoning for wanting her to stay and to try to calm her down, but she's got to go before she unloads her burden to the FBI.

Maybe "Clark" will replay the "Ugly Martha" doctored audio tape to get her on his side.

Was wondering if this makes it more or less likely he has to kill Martha. Before, I thought it was an inevitable necessity. Either it's more likely because now she knows better what he really looks like, or it's less likely because he clearly does have a conscience when it comes to her. With the mail robot bugged already and not yielding much, and it seems unlikely he'll have her bug someone's office after this big fiasco, he doesn't really need her anymore for significant intelligence.

              Terrific last scene:

Glad to see Sandra back in the storyline. I think there's still a lot they can do with her.

I'm a little bummed we're left with the Martha stuff hanging and some other unresolved storylines, but Paige needs to get over it and stop confiding in a creepy older man.

Stan will probably have a target on his back from his fellow FBI agents. John Boy doesn't like him at all anymore.

That's going to be quite a season 4 opening episode.

Re: The Americans - Season 3 (premieres 1/28)

Almost re-introducing Sandra with 10 minutes to go in the season seemed odd timing to me, but I assume it's just to add some more doubt about whether Philip and Elizabeth last long-term if Philip and Sandra bond some and Philip realizes she's a lot more like him than Elizabeth is.

I'm still not convinced Pastor Tim isn't on the whole recruitment of Paige. Elizabeth was very active in protest growing up and the Pastor has them visiting nuclear plants (or something of the like) protesting, and always seemed to me like his purpose was to introduce Paige to that kind of desire to change the world.

I would assume the phones in their house are tapped by the KGB? So either they find out very soon in Season 4 that she told him, or if the pastor is in on it, he tells someone and Philip and Elizabeth find out anyway.

The Martha story still has some interest left in it, does she tell the FBI about him? She seems oddly ok with being blissfully ignorant of who he is and what he's up to. The pen thing is over I guess, seemingly having blamed the random guy Martha was talking to in the recap at the beginning of the episode but there are still lots of directions to go with her.

Stan's freedom to pursue the KGB makes me think he'll getting a lot closer to catching them like they were at the end of the first season.

I'm kind of assuming season 4 will be the last? Seems like they waited longer than usual to make the decision about bringing it back for one more year, so I assume they can't slowly and gradually build things up like they did the first half of this season.

Is it possible the phone line was surveilled and cut off just before Paige gave up too much?

I don't think it is. Newly crowned renegade, shoot from the hip Stan Beeman, won't let his hunch go about Martha.

I don't think it was ever in danger. In mid January the FX chief said the show should last at least five years. Any increase in ratings will give it a guaranteed five.......hopefully.

Hope you're right about season 5, I'm just worried that the low ratings get brought up so often. Seems like eventually, someone would make a bigger deal about that other than just brushing it off because the show is so well received.

Possible I guess they cut it off, but either way, he knows too much, so either he's in on it, or he has to go. Paige knows they're spies, but nowhere has it been explicitly said that they're off killing someone every other night. Paige will really fly off the hook if they take out the priest, then probably try and lie about having nothing to do with it. Seems like a possibility Paige ends up helping Stan catch them if they go too far with Tim. Either way, seems unlikely the plan to use her as a spy has got any chance to pan out. Maybe Henry would be more agreeable though?

Once the KGB hears his Eddy Murphy/Mr. Robinson shtick they'll probably reconsider Paige.

Season 4 starts sometime in March.

I'm glad Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are getting along so well in real life.
