    RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015

Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, died Sunday morning at the age of 49.

Among the features of the new ESPN studio in Bristol is a wall of catchphrases made famous by on-air talent over the years. An amazing nine of them belong to one man -- from his signature "Boo-Yah!" to "As cool as the other side of the pillow" to "He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin' him to school."

That man is Stuart Scott, and his contributions to the sports lexicon are writ large. But they are only one aspect of his legacy. When he passed away, he left behind so much more. He inspired his colleagues with his sheer talent, his work ethic and his devotion to his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15. He defied convention and criticism to help bring this network into a new century. He spoke to the very athletes he was talking about with a flair and a style that ESPN President John Skipper says, "changed everything."

Man, I feel like he really made Sportscenter as I was growing up. Will be missed.

He was definitely one of the best to do it. Always loved listening to him.

He'll always be a badass for announcing on Twitter that his cancer returned and then doing SportsCenter the next day and between chemo.

          RIP Stu.

            Absolutely heartbreaking.

              RIP Stuart Scott 1965-2015

I'm not too affected emotionally about the loss of a person I'd never met but Stuart Scott has the sole responsibility for my addiction to watching ESPN and Sportscenter to this day!!

              RIP Stuart

This is crazy! Knew he was battling stuff and all, but never thought it'd come to that! I don't even get ESPN here, but the various ESPN things I've seen, he was my fave person from ESPN.

Still remember first watching him like 10+ years ago when he was hosting "Stump The Schwab" on ESPN.

RIP, haven't liked the direction ESPN has taken in the last couple of years. Grow up with him, Kenny Mayne, Dan Patrick, Charley Steiner, Rich Eisen, and Brian Kenny.

                          This sucks.

                          This ****ing sucks man.

Stuart Scott is one of the reasons I chose a career path in TV news/production. It might seem cliche, but it really gave 9-10 year old me the belief that I could do this on a national level. I'm just happy he isn't hurting anymore.

Does this make SVP (and Kenny the few times he shows up) the last link to the "old" Sportscenter?

This is a tough time this morning. Stu has been someone my dad has looked to while he fights cancer and it's sad to see him go. But we'll continue the fight for him!

RIP Stuart Scott. One of the voices I grew up on. I'll make sure to flip my pillow tonight, just for you. #stustrong
