    Re: X-Men: Apocalypse

Anyone expecting a reboot after X-Men: Apocalypse?

X-Men: Apocalypse's Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Why Fox Should Be Terrified
After Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence are done promoting X-Men: Apocalypse, their contractual obligations with 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise will be complete. All three have expressed interest in re-upping their contracts, but now Lawrence says they are a package deal. If the studio wants them back, they'll have to re-sign all three.

As they should - their acting as a trio is the best part of the movies.

I think the series as-is needs a break from Magneto and Mystique, let Charles move forward without all the baggage they bring. He's reportedly going to be in New Mutants so I guess maybe that's what we'll get there.

Ok, but don't call it "New Mutants".... that works in comic books but not for a movie title. And, of course, let Marvel have it back.

I've had enough of the Mystique focal point. She's already more played out than Wolverine.

Not terrible, but this is getting pretty much what the movie looks like: overcrowded.

I like what First Class was able to do in scaling it down (until the end, that is). X2 is right behind it for me.

                Re: X-Men: Apocalypse

I thought it entertaining. It had its issues but enjoyed it. It needed more time to flesh out the many new characters so having it made into two movies would have worked a lot better. There was a lot of figuring out where the motivation lied with a lot of characters. The 4 horsemen where pretty much useless.

It probably had to do with three main characters contracts ending this movie, so they had to get it all in on this one before introducing the new squad. I like all the new X-men though, they casted them well.

Days of Future Past was still better. It's definitely not as bad what critics are saying though.

Crazy how the rest of the world see's the big blockbuster movies a week before the states and that's where the film it. Anyway, saw it again and I have the same feelings. The special effects were great which I didn't mention earlier. It had a lot of great moments in it like the Quichsilver scene. Love the new Cyclops and Jean Grey

I wasn't disappointed in this movie like I was with Batman V Superman. I give this a solid B, where Deadpool and Civil War get an A+, BvS is a C.

This is how I rank the X-Men movies:
                      Days of Future Past
                      First Class
                      X2
                      Apocalypse
                      X1
                      X3

                        Re: X-Men: Apocalypse

Saw it a couple of days ago and thought it was alright. Apocalypse ended up being very "ho-hum" for a villain. Some great set-pieces, namely anything with Quicksilver. He's (the effects) definitely the gold-standard when it comes to portraying speedsters on screen. It's really unfortunate that aside from Magneto (with the help of 2 films), none of the Horsemen are developed. They just join Apocalypse because it's cool. On the other side, we do get to know Cyclops, Jean Grey and a little bit about Nightcrawler and they also get to show off.

Out of the new X Trilogy, I'd probably rank it: 1) Days of Future Past, 2)First Class, 3)Apocalypse.

Exceeded very low expectations. Not bad, better movie than BvS but that's a pretty low bar.

Sophie Turner was underwhelming at first but by the end of the film became a fan of her Jean.

These movies really need to get out from under Mystique and Magneto. Ready for a couple movies without them.

I think, having just walked out of the theater (end credits scene is worthless to 99% of viewers btw) I'd put it ahead of DOFP.

End credit scene is especially useless because they will more than likely not even bother following it for the new movie. What about the DoFP post credit scene where we see Stryker get Wolvie's body but Stryker is actually Mystique? They seem to have forgotten that in this movie.

I never understood that as Stryker gets his mitts on Wolverine any way.
