Re: Game of Thrones: Season 5 (aka A Feast for Crows + A Dance with Dragons)

@KingKilla you are a victim of your own expectations. I'm guilty as well. Expectations derived from other works of fiction. That proclaimed good guys have to win in the end. Or atleast appear to have a glimmer of hope.

Regarding Theon. Taken hostage at the age of 10 and raised for years by his father's enemy Ned Stark. Theon bonds with the Stark children and at times even saves their lives.(Bran against wildlings / fights along Robb in battle). To help them even more he goes back home to ask for help to sure up the North for Robb.

He yearns for the approval of his farther, but is denied. His father sends him back to the north to siege it. He is ultimately caught and tortured by Ramsey Bolton. Flaying skin, cutting off his man hood, purposefully allowing him to escape only to catch and punish him more.

His blood sister whom he hardly knows and humiliated him when he returned home comes to rescue him. By then he is "Reek" and thinks it a ruse and refuses to leave.

The bath tub scene wasn't an exhibition of strength. Sansa by even agreeing to the marriage before arriving in Winterfel shows her strength. This is the same girl

    - saw her father beheaded
    - beaten by kings guard
    - threatened rape by Jofffey
    - is 10 seconds from being raped in riot
    - almost thrown off a mountain via her aunt's Moon door.

A no name jealous girl charged with bathing her is more annoyance than anything.

The final scene was about BOTH OF THEM.

Sansa knew it was coming, but she is losing her virginity which is scary for any girl (including Brienne's big ***) her showing fear while being coerced into sex does not automatically make her weak or broken.

Theon basically just mirrored the face of most of the audience including me. Many of which still believed in their hearts that some how poor Sansa would be saved by last second heroics.

Showing Theons face was the best route to get anguish and shock value (same with Jaime's mutilation).

Can you imagine if they'd really shown Sansa face jerking back and forth on screen? It would've seemed less rape and more sensationalized porn.

    Tyrion said it best

I had this long post written out but my PC restarted itself on me, and maybe thats for the best as I feel like Im talking in circles and hijacking the thread with my complaints now.

Hopefully I'm being a "victim of my own expectations" assuming Theon transforms or aids Sansa in any way. It just wouldnt be consistent with who he is today. I mean you just outlined exactly why the selfish, paranoid Reek (not Theon but Reek) would NEVER help Sansa Stark or anyone doing anything against Ramsay Bolton.

But for now Im gonna go silent on this topic until the next episode. I dont want to overload this thread anymore.

Who didn't see that backfiring on Cersei when she set it up? She has more dirt than anybody in Kings Landing.

Saw it coming a mile away. Right now it looks like Littlefinger is in control of everything. Of course I'm sure there is dirt on him too. No one should be safe in Kings landing. The faith militant has power beyond power unless Tommen does as he threatened and calls in the army to take the city back.

Sansa grabbed something off a barrel so she may be able to turn the tables on Ramsey.

Stannis is screwed. Basically looks like Napoleon invading Russia. His army is going to be dead before he evens get to Winterfell.

If Snow unites the Wildlings and halts the white walkers, I could see him ruling the 7 kingdoms. Sansa at Winterfell, Tyrion back in Casterly rock and somehow Kaleesi back on the iron thrown defacto after Snow keeps his pledge to the watch.

                    LOL

Yeah, for the first time, a Sand Snake scene wasn't annoying.

I just don't know, I think I need to watch this episode again maybe because I was distracted with some texts, etc I was getting and being tipsy from the Lightning game still. I just literally don't understand why these religious nuts are all of a sudden the ****, makes zero sense unless the point is Tommen is a bitch.

I laughed way too much at the musical video at "I was told Sean Bean was gonna be here, he owes me a favor"

So glad Theon turned on Sansa. If that was all it took to reverse the torture at the hands of Ramsey I would be disappointed.

Who's Theon? You mean Reek? SMH. Dude is such a lame. I knew he was going to Ramsey the moment the scene started. He could at least tell her that he didn't kill her little brothers. She was dumb for trusting him - she's a wreck right now.

I think its going to take Arianne to settle the North. I think thats what 'Nobody' was getting at in Episode 6. I think her destiny is to retake Winterfell.
