Is anyone else keeping up with this show? Loving it right now and I have to admit that most of the songs on the show are better than whats on the radio right now.
Last night's episode ended pretty much how I expected. Knew that romance was going to come back full circle. Now we'll have the rest of this season to see how it plays out.
Checked out the first episode with high hopes, but it didn't grab me like I thought it would. I might return to it to give it another shot since I can't have too much Taraji. I see it's become the new Scandal for the chicks on my FB newsfeed though.

Same here. Watched the first episode and they lost me with the "alternative lifestyle" R&B singer.
It's a show I really wanted to like but it comes off like a B-movie to me.
I don't watch a lot of tv now, but I started watching sometime during the second episode and have been hooked ever since. Never will get tired of watching Taraji Henson in those form fitting dresses and heels, plus her character is funny to me. I'm not a big Terrence Howard fan but he really fits the role and he has really good chemistry with Taraji. And really like the dynamic of the brothers and the rest of the cast. The music has been surprisingly decent; I even brought a single from one of the earlier episodes because I couldn't get the beat out of my head (Hustle Hard).
Only thing I worry about is the show seems to be going at warp speed throwing out various plotlines that seem to go undeveloped. The producers have been super-smart in getting fairly well-known actors/actresses to to play somewhat small parts (Cuba Gooding Jr., Judd Nelson, Raven-Symone, Courtney Love, etc.) but outside of Courtney Love most of them haven't had much screen time. Hopefully it's just set up though.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
XBL gamertag: d0meBreaker22 (that's a zero)
congrats Steelers, city of Pittsburgh, and Steeler Nation - SIX TIME WORLD CHAMPS

Yeah it seems like its not written to last more than 5 seasons - heck, three at its current pace IMO.
I don't see how it will last if certain characters die/move on. I use to watch Scandal (pretty good show for the first few seasons) and its given me the same feeling.
Right now its good though, I will enjoy it until it kills my vibe.
Gotta admit, this is one of my favorite shows on tv right now. Any of you that gave up on the first episode, you're missing A LOT. On paper it seems like a lot of fluff that won't come through, but in my opinion they're hitting on all factors. Some popular big name actors playing the lead roles. Singing on a show (not a singing show with a little bit of acting) with original songs that actually sound good. A couple of good plots to follow. Familiar faces making guest appearances in roles that make sense. Even like the approach to handling they dynamic between a homophobic father and his gay son.
It does feel like a long movie that won't be able to keep up the steam for too long, but for now I think it's great.
