Bumping this thread because this show really seems to get better every week. The last episode was the best so far imo. It seems the nation agrees too because the ratings are going through the roof, getting better every week too.

I really don't see how this can last more than a couple of seasons (without going from great to unwatchable quickly anyway) but right now it's on fire.

The limited commercial interruptions caught me this week. Didn't feel like I watched the whole thing - just got caught up in it and time flew.

The sneak peek for next week looks good but I just want to know how did Cookie find out that fast.

Cookie's a boss. I like the dynamic too. She's about as rough around the edges as they come and straight out of jail, but it becomes more and more clear that she knows what she's doing in the business, with people, etc. Luscious is the clean cut straight up business man, but you see his street come out. Meanwhile the kids are reverse. Luscious is behind the street rapping son who seems like just a knucklehead but he's talented and has a good heart. Cookie is behind the gay R&B singing son who starts to show he's not to be played with either.

Lot's of little things... if you only watched an episode or two, I can see why you turned away but you're missing out.

Yeah agree with all you've said, I like Maliks character also, actually I like all the characters but the youngest son is by far my least favorite, really gets on my nerves.

Oh BTW the oldest brother who seems like he should be the one to take over the company is completely crazy as hell. It's actually funny how off he is...was like wow dude, really?

Yeah that was a nice twist (the oldest son). Originally it looked like he was the odd man out of the family dynamic. Business man, not music artist; very white collar; married out of his race.

Then as the show goes on you see that his marriage is crazy, he's got his father's "thug" in him and he's most definitely bat *** crazy.

He did an interview where he said he has a cousin who is bipolar and said he's seen him have a few breakdowns and it's helped him play the role, thought that was pretty interesting.

I wasn't feeling last week's episode but tonight... off the hook. Really like some of the misdirection they're doing in the previews; I thought Andre's stuff was gonna play out completely differently than it did

Just ran through the last 5 episodes of the season including the finale last night. The finale was borderline jump the shark territory. But still good stuff. Idk why they had to have Kitty boo boo and Hakeem hook up. Also mad they killed off my boy Vernon.

It's hard to make Lucious a sympathetic figure though. He pretty much groomed his sons to be the backstabbing a holes that they turned out to be. And Jamal going gangsta outta nowhere was also a bit much.

I just hope Cookie gets everything. Bc she's sexy as Hell and somehow the only logical one after all she's been through.

Random thoughts:

Grew to love Hakeem's character. Just raw emotion.

Andre got overshadowed but, I'm not sure what else could've been done with him. Does that make sense? Dude plays freaking out awesomely well though; that's when I found his character the most interesting/entertaining.

Jamaal going gangsta (as mentioned) was just not needed, imo. Keep him as the pure one. But he always wanted his dad's love/approval so it makes sense.

Cookie is easily everyone's favorite character, right? She'll always be Yvette to me.

Luscious Lions is supposed to be symbolic of the Devil, right?

Though the song with Jamaal and Luscious was amazing.

My favorite show in a long time.

I actually think Jamal HAD to go gangsta but I wish they were able to do it "better". If it could've been drawn out over a couple of seasons it would've been better, or if he had more conversation with the guy pushing him before he threatened to toss him off the building, I don't know.

But the premise of his character is that he's supposed to be stereotypically soft but continues to show the other side (steps in front of the gun, the "rap" battle, etc, etc.). My guess is he'd end up being the one with the biggest sack of them all... and his father knew it when he gave him the Empire.
