How many episodes start out with an action sequence and then cuts back in time?

Season two is awesome so far. That fight sequence with the Dogs of Hell was great.

I'm not really digging the Elektra stuff so far (two episodes into that storyline) especially when the Punisher was so strong.

Re: Marvel's Daredevil (Netflix Original Series)

I finished season 2 last night. Overall I think this is the best thing going on in the Marvel cinematic universe with Captain America a close second. The main reason is simply because the supporting cast and villains are actually compelling and affect changes in the story and the hero. I understand that a TV series has more time to devote to develop these things, but in a cinematic universe where characters appear consistently across multiple movies you'd think the universe would feel bigger. Daredevil manages to hit the ground running with its buildup of villains, anti-heroes, and supporting characters. I'm not sure I would rate it above The Dark Knight like Streets does, but I can see his reasoning. Plus, I'm as big a fan of Bats as he is of Red.

Anyway, Daredevil/Murdock actually became more compelling to me in the second half of the season. Before that I felt he was rather dry and his "skin in the game" never really clicked. Although, I still feel like he doesn't have enough skin in the game other than taking care of "his city," his response and adaptation to the new characters was great. Both Punisher and Elektra impacted him in multiple ways and by the end of the season you end up with a much more nuanced and deeper character than where he started.

With that said I still think the rest of the cast outshines Daredevil - which is about the only case in the Marvel cinematic universe where that happens. Season 1 started off slow in that Fisk didn't really come around until episode 4 or 5. Before that you had a slow build with name drops and hinting at his power and influence. Season 2 introduces the Punisher in a compelling way by the end of episode 1. Elektra comes into the game a couple episodes later. For good measure we even get a glimpse of Fisk as he legitimately becomes Kingpin and incredibly intimating to both Matt and the viewer.

The Punisher was the MVP of the season giving the viewer conflicting feelings where you cheer him on one second and grimace revoltingly the next. I wasn't sure how Jon would do since the Walking Dead has left a bad taste in my mouth, but its clear what he can do with some better writing as his base. I cannot wait for The Punisher series to hit in the next year or so.

Elektra took a little bit longer to click with me mostly because I didn't like the persona she hid behind for much of the season. By the end her arc was as compelling as The Punisher's to me. Like others have said I wish they had kept the season 3 tease until the following season because it undercuts the loss massively.

I look forward to season 3 as this was a vast improvement to season 1 and I feel like Daredevil is finally at a place where both personas are interesting and nuanced enough to be compelling going forward.

From a Looper article, so FWIW:

Statham isn't even in any Marvel movies! But after his name was linked to the villain Bullseye in the upcoming second season of Daredevil, Statham lashed out at Marvel anyway. "I could take my grandma and put her in a cape and then put her in a green screen, and they'll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action," he told the Italian website I 400 Calci. We're not sure when Marvel's latest international blockbuster, Grandma in a Cape, is going to hit theaters, but frankly, we can't wait to see it.

Paul Bettany, who's been part of the MCU for years—first as the voice of Tony Stark's AI assistant, and now as the Vision—took polite British umbrage with Statham's remarks during an appearance on*Conan. "I would never talk s— about somebody else's work, but I'm just saying, you know, I read the contract, they [Marvel] employed me as an actor," he pointed out. "There's obviously stuntmen in the world—you've met them, you've seen them. They are very good at what they do, so let them do it. But if there's a really, really tricky scene with some very tricky dialogue, one might consider bringing in an acting double for Jason Statham."

Man.... Bettany better hope he doesn't run into Statham in a dark alley!
