    Motherboard/Processor question

I found what types of processors my motherboard will support, but when it says it supports a 95W processor only.... I assume that means 95 and nothing else? nothing lower?

You have to tell people what your motherboard is?

What's the manufacturer and model? You can check the compatibility online

      Re: Motherboard/Processor question

This has to be an AMD motherboard. What that means is the CPU's TDP can't exceed 95W, so yes you can use lower (you can use higher than that, but you are just asking to overload the voltage regulators and murder the thing).

You still have to know the motherboard, at the very least the socket type (AM3, AM3+, AM2, AM2+) and what it specifically supports.

Yes, sorry, it's AMD and I found an online manual that tells me the socket type with which it's compatible.... it was the phrasing of the wattage compatibility that threw me. But I think you answered my question....thanks.
