Six is definitely the best out of them.

What ever happened to black Spider-Man? That was with the old company, right?

Just rumor fodder. Wouldn't be surprised if we see him in a couple phases from now, transplanted from another Marvel U.

I could definitely see a Secret Wars or universe shattering event on the big screen in a few years once they hit that wall where they need to replace a lot of the current actors.

So is this a different story completely from Ultimate Spider-Man? Does this Marvel Spider-Man get his powers a lot younger?

Sorry for the questions but I'm really confused.

Decided to look who those guys are since I've no idea of them and surprisingly at least three of them are at least 18 years old so they aren't that young after all. Besides I wouldn't mind if this future Spidey is a teenager, as long as whoever kid is chosen acts well, his character and solo movie is close to the Spectacular Spider-Man TV series (which were amazing and a shame it was cancelled), has a suit close to TASM2 one (which was the best one from the movies) and we don't have to watch AGAIN his origins I'm fine. If we get JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson again it'd be a plus, he was fantastic in the first three movies.

Marvel is done with origin stories I theory, but Sony has creative control so we'll see.

Hmm. This could work. I'm not totally against a young spider-man.

                      Re: Marvel's Spider-Man

I don't see what the big deal is about them going young. For starters it's something to differentiate from the previous two movie incarnations, and it's not like this is some groundbreaking change. Spider-Man has consistently been a young kid throughout his history. In the Ultimate books he started out when he was 15.

                      Spoiler

I seen someone mention an origin story. Kevin Feige already said there won't be one (thank god). I'm assuming we're just going to get flashbacks to things like Uncle Ben's death and the spider bite.

What I'm most curious about is what direction they're going to go with the villains and supporting characters. Are they going to go with MJ from the start or are they going to use someone else as a love interest? Obviously I don't think they'll go the Gwen Stacy route now that that's been seen on screen but there are other options out there aside from MJ and Gwen.

Also, how are they going to play out the whole Osborn story? We've already seen Harry become the Green Goblin twice so that's entirely played out at this point. What I'd like to see is what they did with that Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. It was kid-oriented but I liked that they had Harry become Venom. I think that's an interesting idea to play around with and I think this time they really need to build towards Venom from the start and finally give him his due on the big screen.

Speaking of villains, I'm interested to see who they go with to start things off. We've already seen Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman and The Lizard. I'd love to see Kraven but I think it's too early for that, especially with Peter starting out so young. We also still haven't seen other notable villains like Mysterio, Vulture or Chameleon. I think Mysterio would be really cool to see with the effects that they can pull off nowadays. The problem is I don't know if he can carry a movie as a solo villain. Maybe team him with someone else?

The best bet might be to just go with Doc Ock. It's a retread but he's one of the top 3 Spidey villains, you can plant the seeds for the Sinister Six, and most importantly you fix the mistake of killing him off like Sam Raimi did in Spider-Man 2.

At the end of the day, I just really hope there's a well-thought out plan here. Spider-Man has such a rich universe to pull from and there's so many things you can do and different directions you can go in.

I personally liked some of the ideas the Amazing Spider-Man universe had, like building up Oscorp as some kind of Frankenstein factory. They were also doing a good job of having Norman Osborn be responsible for so much of the tragedy in Peter's life that I was really looking forward to the third movie, which I assume would of had them finally face off against each other. Of course the problem was that the execution was lacking and Sony couldn't help but get overly involved once again.

To be honest I'm still worried about that happening again considering Marvel is only sharing the rights, but here's hoping I'm wrong.

                        Re: Marvel's Spider-Man

I really REALLY have wanted a notable Venom villain in a Spider Man film as the main antagonist. It would have been intersting the counterbalance f his hatred of Parker/Spider man while having the whole not harming innocents thing. Many times that is ignored for a more overt Carnage type Venom which is fine, but makes a somewhat less intersting story to me.

                          And your next Spidey is....

                          Tom Holland.

Jon Watts, of "Cop Car" fame (ha), will direct the movie for Marvel.

I have no idea who either of them are, so I'm not going to pretend to know whether they're good or bad choices, but I'll trust that Marvel is making the right call here.

All I'll say is I'm hoping for the best and I'll wait at least until some pics of this kid in the full Spider-Man/Peter Parker look come out. I still wish we could have kept Andrew Garfield though.

I was reading something about he has to be in a team-up flick for Marvel to do this now? Is that true? If so, this is still a debacle with the X-Men being in a separate universe and a solo Hulk movie can be made because of distribution rights.... still seems a bit cluster to me.

Well, the character/contract is for (at least) four movies - the next Captain America, Spidey stand-alone, and the two-part Avengers: Infinity War...so that could easily be the team-up.
