    Re: Windows 10

Wow...M$ must REALLY want this on a billion devices. I clicked on the tray icon after all these weeks of it sitting there and without prompting it just started DL'ing in the background. Since I'm still hesitant I decided to stop the download and despite doing so, it continues to download. If this starts installing without my doing so and wipes **** out, I'm gonna be pissed.

See, this is phase 1 of how the robots start taking over.

So here's the real question. If one installs W10 and one does not like it, can one use a restore point to get W7 back?

addendum: After it completed it and started checking system requirements, etc., I wasn't digging this auto-install crap and wasn't sure what it was gonna do, so I did a quick re-start. My system started acting like it was updating and took about an hour to reboot. I feared my files might be gone if it did a clean install. Fortunately, it was just prepping and allowed me to stop the process once rebooted.

BUT..... I don't care for this M$ crap of forcing the issue. I know their goal is to install on a billion gazilion devices, but it shouldn't be forcibly.

I tried it once, and it didn't work(it downloaded over 5GB,spent almost an hour with the preparing for installation stuff, and then it just failed after). But then I tried it an hour or so later, doing same thing, and suddenly it was an 8GB download, and it actually went through with the entire installation
I'll try that then, did it last night and after about 40 min it started showing progress but when it went to verifying the download it stopped and said something is wrong or whatever the message was. Won't go past verifying for me......but think I may have found the problem looking this morning. Only have about 2.5 gigs on my HD.

Yes, I installed W10 last night but my work VPN client didn't work so I downgraded back to 7. The downgrade is done from the Windows Update -> Recovery screen. It said you have 30 days after installing W10 to downgrade back to 7. I got a message that I may need to re-install some programs after downgrading but I haven't run into that yet. All my programs and data seem to be intact.

It amazes me that upgrades like this render common programs and services unusable. It's not like we're talking wanting to run a DOS program here.

I want to downgrade back to win 8 but I don't see anything about a recovery screen in windows updates.
It only gives me the option to check for updates....please help...lol

You can right click pretty much anything in the start menu and click uninstall.

Just did the upgrade myself and I like it so far but nothing is really that different. I was using Windows 8 with the classic shell so I've had the start menu button the entire time...I do like the layout but other than that, nothing is noticeably different IMO.

OK...disregard this post as I got it to work, win 10 just didn't play nice with my pc for some reason.
I know it maybe a bit old (4years) but it made my screen resolution look real bad...kinda stretched and blurry looking, and I tried changing the resolution to no avail.

As soon as I went back to 8 everything was normal again,so no complaints...win 10 just isn't for me.

Did you upgrade your video card drivers ? When I 1st got Windows 10 it made my resolution funky looking, but I updated my video card drivers and restarted my PC, everything was back to normal.

                            Re: Windows 10

So far after spending all day with it, me and the wife are really digging Windows 10. My wife don't like all the apps and stuffed pinned to the task bar, so for her PC she removed all of that.

Edge looks really good and is very snappy. Some popular extensions aren't supported yet though.

The OS itself boots faster then what Windows 7 did.

I don't know what it is, but some websites graphically look a hell of a lot better.

On the gaming front, games run much smoother and better over all. Only gaming problem I had was the 2K server wouldn't connect, but every other game I tried server connected.

For you Arma 3 lovers, Arma 3 works fine. They will have official Windows 10 support with update 1.50 and official support of DX 12 some time in the future.

Most work. I guess Xbox doesn't uninstall but looks like most others do.
