A company is only considered "demonized" if they aren't doing anything wrong and people are accusing them of something. We all know that is not the case with MS and Apple. 7 is still fine. 8.1 is preferred by many, especially touch screen users. 10 is fine but there are still known problems and bugs. And since "insecurity" was mentioned, let's not forget how open MS makes your PC a bot upon initial W10 install. Apple can suck it too. Ever since their massive update years ago, battery life has sucked on the phones. These companies reap millions so I have no trouble being critical if warranted.

Windows 10 is just a mix of widows 7 and 8 that takes up less resources. Whatever the "bugs" are, I don't experience that stuff people have tried to push the panic alarm about at all.
Yep, I turned off the share internet feature, problem solved.
I'm not going to live in the past. While 8 is still fairly recent, this is certainly an improvement upon it.
I had 7 and left for 8.1 after leaving 8 in favor of 7, but it's old now. 8.1 is a less featured version of 10.
Im definitely no MS defender or any corp. for that matter, but there is still fearmongering still going on?
Im not a big fan of apples software either. I do like the durability of their hardware though.Comment

Re: Windows 10
Can someone explain to me how Miracast works? Is it just full "screen mirroring" and that's it or can you just "cast" individual tabs/movies/files/etc and leave your computer open to continue doing other stuff while casting something? In this case it would be a Roku, if that makes a difference. How well does this all work? And I presume everything formats correctly when broadcast?
I'd love to cast sports streams or Youtube videos or whatever without having the whole screen being taken up.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 05-03-2016, 08:43 PM.Comment

Re: Windows 10
It won't allow certain tabs, unless there is some 3rd party tool, but you can extend your desktop. Then just move whatever you want on the TV to the other desktop.
It is OK, but even with top of the line tech, there is some slight lag and the signal can break up on the TV.
Non-pc are usually just full screen and the quality isn't great.

Re: Windows 10
If you have your computer connected to multiple screens, you don't have to mirror what is on one screen onto the other. You can make a "second screen." Basically, when you extend the desktop, you can make it so you can literally move your mouse on on screen all the way to the right, and it will appear coming from the left side on your other screen. You can also drag program windows over, etc.
Been a feature of computers for as long as I can remember, actually (I'm thinking maybe 2002 as the earliest as I can even think of it haha). Something tells me you might know this feature has been around for a while though, and maybe you just weren't sure what the term was called.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Windows 10
Ah so for normal laptops it doesn't matter then.
So what's an example of something that *cant* be Miracasted?Comment

Can't think of anything that hasn't worked.

Re: Windows 10
Awesome. I was worried that it was just total screen mirroring and that's it. As long as you can do specifics while leaving the rest of the computer open for other multitasking, that's all I really want. Thanks for answering.Comment

Re: Windows 10
For those of you that switched to Windows 10 from Windows 7...
Are you glad you switched?Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Windows 10
It's great, though. I love how the snap feature has evolved since Windows 7, especially.
It doesn't seem to find my files as easily as it did in W7, though.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
