I just hope they bring his humor into the film.
I laughed quite a bit at some of his "lines"....

LOL, that's actually what I was thinking. Then right after I thought of how stupid this movie looks since I basically just saw the whole movie for free in just over 3 minutes. Ridley Scott needs to retire. The only thing that could make this interesting is how many laws of physics and space travel will be harmed in the making of this movie.

Man, just 4 chapters in and I'm hooked on the audio book. It's great.

Wait...what? Wilson is making a return to the big screen?? Sweet. I knew his career wasn't over.

Caught an early screening, wasn't as nerdy as I hoped it would be (the book is very verbose when it comes to some of the science) but still very enjoyable with pretty well done 3D.

And anyone vaguely interested, just give the sample a try on audible, it's fantastic.

Great reviews so far on Rotten Tomatoes.

Sadly, I was on an IMDb movie board (not for The Martian) and some ******* posted a potential ending spoiler for this movie. I don't know if it's real or not, and I don't want to ask to get it confirmed... but sometimes I really ****ing hate the Internet.

Then again, that first trailer seemed pretty spoiler-ish too. I'm surprised they put in as much info as they did in that trailer. Good thing I pressed stop after realizing that.

Before I listened to the book (twice) I was frustrated with how much was in the trailer too. Even incorrect, wasn't a fan of the assumptions it let me come to.

I was really interested in this film, then I saw the trailer (which don't get me wrong was good!) but I can't stop cringing every time I hear Damon say ''In your face Neil Armstrong''

Still going to see it like, but theres just something about that bit that sorta put me off!

This movie apparently is pretty funny, so just take that bit as maybe a worse one-liner than most of the other ones this might have.

Watney is a good everyman character. A funny nerd in a bad situation. Damon plays the role well.

I absolutely loved this movie. Best movie I've seen in recent memory. I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was. Would recommend to everyone!

Is this Matt Damons third time being lost and found? I think he's type casted now.

Yes, I believe so. Pretty soon the American taxpayer will just stop giving a **** about trying to save Matt Damon's ***.

As for the movie, I highly enjoyed it! Funny science, great visuals and all-around great performance by Matt Damon. The long-stretch where the focus wasn't on Matt Damon hindered the film a bit, IMO. The crewmates were also under-utilized.

8/10 and would buy on blu-ray.

The movie just went digital yesterday. We are at the point where they just find out Matt Damon could be alive and his crew is 10 months away from returning.
                              Spoiler
's first appearance) Mars is around 250 million miles from Earth, right? Approximately how long does a one way Mars to Earth flight take in this movie? I'm just looking for a response to my post so no spoilers please.

EDIT: I guess the distance varies, because 50 millions miles has just been mentioned as the distance.

The author actually used real distances for the book and people even figured out the dates he used to measure the timeframe.

The distance is talked about quite a bit as the rescue plans are devised.

                                Enjoy!
