So Elliot's delusion (Slater-Mr Robot) is delusional about people being able to see him, but Elliot's laughing is a realization of his own madness? Another popular assumption is that Craig Robinson is not real.

I don't think that Mr. Robot thinks that people see the Christian Slater form, but instead I think that he thinks that they see the crazy, cutthroat, nihilistic, angry hacker persona.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I just watched the first episode this morning, and I'm not sure I know what's happening anymore, LOL. It's hard to tell what's real and what's not. That's a good point about him being in a mental institution, LionsFanNJ, and Leon would make sense as some sort of multiple personality like Mr. Robot as that level of one-sidedness makes no sense in a relationship. I mean, I understand some people talk more than others, but I don't think anyone is going to be okay with the conversation being 99.9% one-sided.

I'm not sure anything involving Elliot has been real.

I found everything involving the sister to be dull.

                    So far?

More "poetic" than traditionally "plot driven", IMHO...

Looking VERY forward to this season unfolding, as a result...

I think the people are real, just maybe not who we see them as. Eating all meals with someone in the same restaurant doesn't happen in reality unless something is wrong with that person. He eats every meal because maybe he is in a institution and the other guy just discovers Seinfeld because it's on TV all day. Someone talking and not reacting when Elliot starts talking to himself points to institution. Then the guy with the dog could be someone who brings in a therapy dog and he knows he worked on computers and wants help with something.

There's definitely something to the institutionalized theory, it makes a lot of sense the more you examine it.

I struggled with this show last season until it began to come into it's own (at least for me). Now I'm wondering if the writers think they're a lot more clever than they really are. There is a point to where confusion clouds the story.

                              Totally agree

                              They need to balance it

                              Starting off slow too

Sam Esmail decided to not only be the creator / showrunner / writer of the show, but direct it this season as well...

Somewhat risky, because it's taken the show into a much more complex version of his vision...

Personally, I admire the artist who goes "all in" despite the potential commercial consequence...

                                That being said:

It would totally s*ck if that gets it cancelled...
