    Ant-Man (2015)

Surprised there wasn't already a thread on the movie but wanted to give my $.02. Saw it last night and found it to be really entertaining. Easily the funniest laugh out loud Marvel movie imo, although I wouldn't classify it as a comedy. Might be the most approachable too, as it doesn't require a lot of previous knowledge of the Marvel universe - but I do think they did a great job tying the everything into the larger Marvel universe.

I wasn't too excited about the casting when I initially heard about the movie. I didn't find Paul Rudd to be a particularly exciting casting choice but he's really, really good. As is Michael Douglas as Hank Pym; imo he gives the best performance of an older "established" actor in any superhero movie off the top of my head. I've never liked Michael Pena much in the movies I've seen him in but he's flat-out funny in this one. Rest of the casting is good.

As a golden age comics fan I have the story arc where Hank Pym goes crazy and attacks the entire Avengers team as Ant-Man - and holds his own for a while (was one of the Ultron storylines). This movie had me thinking back fondly on Hank Pym/Ant-Man as a character. My date isn't much of a superhero movies fan but she really liked it. There are two end movie credit scenes; both really short but they're both worth watching. Particularly the second one.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Saw this movie and I found it to be ok. I thought the movie was to cheesy at time and boring at times but the last fight was great and this movie was like the funniest CBM ever made. I think the movie need more action though. Not the best CBM far from it but not the worst either.

I think the end battle shows what the movie could have been. All in all I think it's decent. Not bad but not great.

Well below Captain America, probably a step above Thor.

Easily one of my favorite Marvel movies so far. I really enjoyed this movie it's right up there with Winter Soldier and Guardians.

The comedy was great as was the action sequences and the cast. Everything was well done. Walked out of the movie totally surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The villain, as with most of the Marvel movies, wasn't terribly engaging.

I'll have to watch it a few more times but on first viewing it's in the convo of my favorite Marvel movie based off entertainment value alone.

He was a good complimentary actor in Fury and he was pretty good in End of Watch. I thnk people forget he came in toward the end of The Shield for a few episodes as well.

I went into this movie with pretty low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

Definitely in the bottom half of my favorite Avenger characters, but they did a pretty good job overall...

                Re: Ant-Man (2015)

I loved it. I didn't have high expectations, but the movie blew me away. The story is solid and the cast for the most part was very solid. I enjoyed the father-daughter moments. As a dad of a son, it struck home with me in the sense that I want to be the best father I can be and do whatever it takes for my son.

The action scenes were done well, especially in the last part of the movie. of course, being an origin story, the first part is slow to introduce all the players. The only thing I wanted to be better was a more fleshed out villain. It's in my top 5 MCU movies. It's a notch below Cap WS and Guardians, but I found this movie better than than both Thor movies and IM2.

Ant-Man became my son't favorite hero over the weekend lol

I agree that it's on a lower tier than Winter Soldier and Guardians, but I would put it on my second level with Avengers, Iron man and Thor.

                    Re: Ant-Man (2015)

I agree. The fact they were able to release an Ant-Man movie is awesome. I realize it's the second lowest opening weekend of any Marvel movie, but all things considered that's good for a hero that really is more a c hero in comics.

I hope word of mouth gets out to attract more people because it's an underrated yet excellent movie.

Really enjoyed the film and was surprised at how funny it was. As a lot have said, Michael Pena stole just about every scene he was in. I especially loved the parts where he was narrating a story.

One thing kind of bugged me though

Just took my kids to see this. Very enjoyable. As was said it took a bit to develop because we had to get the background done. I enjoyed that part though. Action scenes were solid, comedy was good, and I think the all around casting was fantastic. Definitely a fun time.

As for my thoughts on the movie, kudos Marvel. You made me enjoy an Ant-Man movie. Was it the great amount of humor? Was it the impressive action sequences? Was it the group of children next to me that AUDIBLY told each other to share their popcorn for 2 hours? Who knows, but it was great.

I don't like to rank movies in order of which I prefer, but I will definitely pick this up on Blu.

I haven't watched that show since the very first episode and also, that really has nothing to do at all with my "gripe."
