Re: do you still buy albums?
I've primarily gone digital now with music, but I still buy CDs for the bands I really like.
The latest Modest Mouse album is the last physical disc I've purchased. That's probably the only disc I've purchased in the last two years.Comment

Re: do you still buy albums?
Probably showing my age but I actually still have my whole album (vinyl) collection. I still buy them when I can find them.
On the CD front I am still of the mind that having the actual object in my hand is better than a digital copy on my whatever. This goes for comics, books, movies etc. I just like having physical things. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Depending on the music community you're asking, vinyl is very much alive. It's the hip thing to do. I do think it's cool because it's useful (it plays music!) and almost like memorabilia. Not for me, though.
I bought a Rise Against and Strung Out CD at the local record store last year. Just mainly to support a local business and it was cool having the physical albums in hand. But I don't ever use a CD player and the one in my car is broken.
I pay $10/month for Spotify so my budget a year on music is $120, technically. So it's hard to go out and buy a physical copy on top of that. I mainly will buy to support a small band or pick one up at a show at the merch table. A lot of bands I listen to will offer their albums on a site like Bandcamp for Name Your Own Price, so whenever I see that I always throw at least $5 down simply because they're in it for the art, not for the money and I respect that so I don't mind showing some money. Always try to buy direct from the band so they see the most profit instead of a label or retailer taking a big chunk.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: do you still buy albums?
I like to have CDs for my car for shorter drives (Too short to plug in the phone, too long for the radio). About 5/6 months ago, I left my car unlocked overnight and somebody stole my whole collection (20+ CDs) and I haven't really rebuilt it. Only got 4 right now.
On the vinyl front, I only buy albums that were originally released on vinyl. So far my collection consists of:
SpoilerBlack Sabbath - Paranoid
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Oz
Johnny Cash - Greatest Hits
ACDC - Back In Black
ACDC - Highway to Hell

Re: do you still buy albums?
I mainly use iTunes if it is available through them. I spend a lot of money on music and refuse to download anything for free unless it is the only possible way to obtain something. Some things are long out of print and not on iTunes, so that's the only way.Comment

Re: do you still buy albums?
Spotify with the University discount is too good to pass up. Haven't bought a physical album since I got an iPhone in 08'. Last song/album I bought from iTunes was probable "The Trilogy" by the Weekend.
I thought I would miss not having the album offline or in my iTunes account, but now everything is on spotify and I haven't looked back since.Bucs, Lighting, Rays,Comment

Re: do you still buy albums?
I'm always going out to buy vinyl records, I've probably bought 25 or more just this year, but I very rarely buy anything on CD. In the past 10 years, I think I've only bought 4 CDs. Morrison Hotel, Waiting for the Sun, Music from Big Pink, and The Best of Sam Cooke.
Now, if we're talking about buying digital albums or songs, I always go for the albums, because that's the way the artist intended for their music to be listened to.Comment

On a recent road trip, I came across Black Sabbath and Paranoid, but I didn't get either of them. I still regret it.Comment

Re: do you still buy albums?
The only physical CDs I still buy are for people who I think really deserve my money. Anyone in TDE, Eminem, and most recently Hopsin have gotten me to buy a hard copy.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams
