Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Ed Harris man...he's a beast in this series.
I also just watched the original movie. Yul Brynner was the og T1000.SpoilerMakes me wonder, are one of the creators a host themselves?Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I wouldn't classify it as that. The pilot brought out the unique quality of the show and set the bar pretty high. Not to take away from this episode, but it already had a bit of early "filler" feel to it. It certainly has you walking away wanting more, that's for sure. Ed Harris makes a good bad ***.
Did anyone else think that
Spoilerthe young boy on "holiday" was actually Hopkins who created a boy host of himself with whom he could interact -- for whatever reasonComment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
Agree on the spoiler, but absolutely disagree about the comment that this felt like filler. The second episode was almost too packed with stuff.I wouldn't classify it as that. The pilot brought out the unique quality of the show and set the bar pretty high. Not to take away from this episode, but it already had a bit of early "filler" feel to it. I don't have time to go over it all, but it was an intense experience. We have tons of commentary on how we view gaming, androids dreaming (hello PK Dick!), androids first understanding that they are "others," and a crafty way to introduce religion in order to make the androids more human.
Oh, and the The Man in Black may just be the devil that inspires the salvation of the others.
I loved the first episode, but the second one pretty much blew my mind.Comment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
One of my favorite parts of the show so far is the music. If you listen to the piano in each episode, let me know if you agree...
SpoilerFirst Episode:
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
Second Episode:
Radiohead - Not sure the name of the song, but I know it's on the OK Computer album (kind of fitting for the show)

Re: Westworld (HBO)
I didn't mean filler in the traditional sense. Now that I think about it, I would say more of an extension of the 1st ep. It more so started rounding out the information brought in from the pilot.
I will say that the one portion that left me feeling a bit worried about a sub-plot line is.....
Spoilerthe romance between the security chief and the programmerComment

Re: Westworld (HBO)
It felt like the second part of a two-part pilot which isn't bad.
I didn't feel it really advanced the plot but it did give more perspective on what's happening.
I do think the Man in Black scenes were great. Also the scenes about the androids were amazing, particularly when talking about roles and being decommissioned.
I did not find the newcomer stuff that interesting, but I didn't hate it. It's just lacking in comparison. Meeting an aggressive character with a timid, kinder friend seems the obvious direction in this sort of story.
I'm not exactly sure I care what it was trying to tell me. I felt the Hopkins scenes with the kid along with the writer falling flat on his new arc were enough to drive home that point.
But maybe they'll have a bigger impact. I do recognize the kinder guy from House of Cards so perhaps he has a bigger role in the story.Last edited by CMH; 10-12-2016, 01:57 PM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Westworld (HBO)
Re-watched this with the wife and a couple of things occurred to me/I noticed more:- *Delores confused when the little boy mentioned about her not being real
- *Teddy (Delores' boyfriend) "recording" The Man in Black taking Delores into the barn
- *Bernard (main programmer) whispering into Delores' father's ear just prior to decommissioning him.
And what is the reason for keeping all of the decommissioned hosts around?
Also, Stubbs (main security guy) is another Hemsworth brother.
My one big prediction:
SpoilerDeloris will kill The Man in Black in the finale.
Really liked the first episode, makes me want more. Getting Anthony Hopkins really boosts the credibility of this series. But all the actors are top notch. Nudity is a little overdone, but hey at least they show the robots are anatomically correct lol. I'm not sure why they have to have them nude all the time though when they are being interrogated, worked on, or decommissioned. Notice Delores didn't get that treatment, too bad heh heh.Comment
