    Possible spoilers regarding story structure:

    Spoiler

The good news is this might be one of the first Nolan films in a long time where he plays the "show, not tell" adage.

      Dunkirk has a PG-13 rating.

I'm neither surprised nor worried. Based on all Nolan interviews, he never intended to show the visceral and brutal aspects of war. Not to mention this battle was not one focused on hand-to-hand combat.

We saw a new trailer in front of Kong. No one seemed excited for this movie at all after it. The trailer didn't do anything for me either. Just looks there.

Was it a trailer, or was it the "prologue"?

Because to be honest, the trailer didn't enthrall me either. I haven't seen the prologue. Still excited about the flick though. My most anticipated of the movie to date, mostly because of Nolan I imagine.

Not sure. It wasn't the original trailer. It was like 3 minutes long and was boring and confusing as hell.

              Haha, well that's never good.

Was it this one? (Leon had posted it earlier in the thread)

Nolan claims this is his most experimental film to date. I'm definitely willing to see something that ruffles the feathers of "unconventional." If you ask me, The Dark Knight already did exactly that. I had never before imagined a comic book movie like that. Just so different.

                Extended TV spot:

I don't know, EG... this looks pretty intense and bad-*** to me.

There are some new Nolan interviews where he is describing the entire experience as very visceral and suspenseful. He doesn't even describe it as a war story, but simply as a story about survival.

New Nolan interview, not much else other than explaining the reason behind the rating.

AP: This film has been rated PG-13. Was that a choice you made?

Nolan: All of my big blockbuster films have been PG-13. It's a rating I feel comfortable working with totally. "Dunkirk" is not a war film. It's a survival story and first and foremost a suspense film. So while there is a high level of intensity to it, it does not necessarily concern itself with the bloody aspects of combat, which have been so well done in so many films. We were really trying to take a different approach and achieve intensity in a different way. I would really like lots of different types of people to get something out of the experience.

Still kind of just "there" for me trailer-reaction wise, but I'm completely fine by that.

I just really want to experience this in IMAX.

What do you guys think about the pg13 rating... I'm not asking for a bloodbath.... But when I first seen the previews for this i though it might be Saving Private Ryan like..... Ill still never forget they intense, heart pounding experience of seeing SPR in the movie theater in 1998 that 1st time.... The sound the shock of the 1st seen literally had me shaking.... I was thinking this would be somewhat like that... But SPR was a hard R rating for violence...... I hope this is an epic movie

^ I'm fine with the rating. Nolan doesn't even call this a war film. War just happens to be the center of the story he's telling. Kind of like saying The Dark Knight isn't a Batman film; I think most people can understand what that means when we say that. Plus, this wasn't exactly close-combat battle.

That being said, if there were as many casualties as this mistranslated poster would make you believe, I think the brutality of that war would have to be displayed at least a little bit...

                            Spoiler

The left side is the proper wording of the poster. Unless your name is Jack and you talk Thai very well, the right side translates to:

“400,000 men were stranded in Dunkirk. Only 700 returned by boat.”

Oh boy, that's a mistake and a half!
