Re: Dunkirk Christopher Nolan Project (July 21, 2017)

They have changed the ticket sale date to July 5th, according to the newest TV spot:

Also, word has it this film is only 107 minutes in length (62 minutes less than Interstellar... which I just rewatched today and love every second of).

That feels really short compared to his last couple of films.

I, surprisingly, have almost 0 excitement for this film. Don't know why.

Yeah. It looks like it will be good and a valuable entry into the pantheon of war films, but I have no hype to my feelings about it.

I wasn't too excited about it either (at least not to the level I am for other Christopher Nolan films), but the IMAX preview clip before Rogue One was amazing.

Pretty sure it is 147 minutes long.

That link also says 107 minutes.

If you said 1 hour 47 minutes, then I'd agree with you.

Although the movie is surrounded by World War II, it doesn't really seem like a war film. Nolan calls it a survival film, which makes it seem more like Titanic to me than Saving Private Ryan.

What I'm more interested in with this film is how Nolan will put his storytelling spin on this when we already know the general outcome of this film. How will he mess with time, and how will he build tension with hope of certain characters who we'd like to see survive? Stuff like that.

Anyone here live near Playa Vista, CA? There is a free screening for Dunkirk on July 10th if you enter soon enough! I'm one click away from receiving two free passes, but unfortunately I don't live anywhere near there (I'm six-ish hours away).

Well, I just jumped a couple of days to see it earlier (July 17th), though not in IMAX. I will likely be doing both then.

The social media embargo has also lifted, and critics are putting in their blurbs online. They are calling it relentless and heart-pounding, saying that Styles can act and that it's a glorious ride in IMAX.
