I was texting with a friend last night during the episode as we ran down all the typical TV methods of pretend deaths. The Shakespeare pill, a dream sequence, an evil twin lol, etc, there's just no conceivable way they'll actually go about the show without her permanently.

Did that Russian chick who's always after Tom ever die? If she's still around maybe Tom hooks up with her instead, she's pretty hot

I looked at Megan's Boone's Twitter and she was marketing and discussing last weeks episode and all of a sudden, she's been radio silence since. No reporting of last night's episode or marketing of it.

Thursday night she did post the country song "Lay Me Down" performed by legends Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn which repeated lyric is "I'll be at peace when they lay me down". Seems like more of a wink-wink response then anything else, unless I'm missing something and it was just a random Twitter post.

Watched this episode last night...here are my thoughts:

Lizzy sure looked dead, but I wouldn't put it past Red to have rigged this entire thing (it was his medical team that was treating her) to try and allow her to have a normal life when she "returns" as someone else. This doesn't strike me as much different than what Red himself or Dr. Kaplan have done (note that Dr. Kaplan's first name is Kate, which could be her mother's name shortened).

So that said, I think there are one of three things going on here:

1) Lizzy isn't really dead, this was written into the script for her baby leave, and she'll be back at some point with a different ID/look.

2) Megan Boone wanted off the show, so they wrote her off in this way and now the show will be more Red-centric (he's really been the star all along to be honest).

3) Megan Boone wanted off the show, so they wrote her off and now we are going to see the show shift to Tom/her daughter with Red's interactions being very similar to what we've seen so far. It wouldn't surprise me if they "move ahead in time" and the story picks up with everyone older and her daughter in her late teens/early 20's.

Regardless, I didn't see Lizzy's death coming...was pretty shocking to say the least.

My wife remembered that the older "fix" lady talked to Lizzie after she wouldn't let Reddington in....she could just as easily have set something up where this is a plot that Reddington couldn't know about.

Don't know about that. She's a legitimate costar. The major dynamic of the series was her often mysterious relationship with Red. And let's face it, Liz made Red an even better character.

I agree.

Without her, this is the beginning of the end. I don't think the show could continue without changing a lot. You have no reason to care about Red now. It could last 1-2 seasons, but there will be little to pull you into the story.

I agree.

Without her, this is the beginning of the end. I don't think the show could continue without changing a lot. You have no reason to care about Red now. It could last 1-2 seasons, but there will be little to pull you into the story.

I don't disagree at all...and I'm not saying the show would be better off, but I guess if you had to choose either Red or Lizzie, the show is better off keeping Red. His performance has been amazing throughout and he makes the show must watch for me.

I'd pick Red over Lizzie, but i'm not convinced she'd be gone either...

So much left to find out, and these shows have a master plan.

Love that a show can get us talking like this, not many twists nowadays.

NBC isn't going to void that deal because Ms. Boone (for instance) "doesn't want to do the show anymore" / "wants to focus on motherhood" / etc...

If the show / showrunner / network wants her back...she will be back...

I tend to think that'll be the case...

What would their motivation be to mess with a successful formula?

I saw a interview with the director or producer of the show, Jon Bokenkamp? in January. The interviewer brought up Megan's pregnancy and he came out and said, this won't become the Tom and Liz show and watching them wash and fold sheets, that is not what the show is about.

What would their motivation be to mess with a successful formula?

I guess a contract like that would prevent her from working in the overall entertainment industry for X or 7 number of years.

Megan just had her real baby yesterday.

Yeah, her contract will determine her professional future for it's duration...

Not sure what hers looked like, but as I said it's prob ballpark "industry standard"...

Remember the Modern Family lawsuit from a couple / few years back?

The cast sued because their VERY long term exclusives even prevented them from seeking advertising work outside of the show...

After the settlement, we started seeing the actors as pitch persons for a number of different products...

Network TV deals are similar to old skool recording contracts...

VERY slanted to the benefit of the corporate entity providing the opportunity, etc...

I was just thinking in the first part of Soloman, I think Tom and Liz were discussing having the wedding that day. I think Tom asked Liz when the baby's due date was and she said April 22nd.

That's not too far off when Megan's baby girl was born.

Not sure if it's a coincidence or not and if it really matters. lol
