I thought I saw something a few posts above about a "spoiler spoil". I always avert my eyes in this thread, but TWD is so huge if you're on any type of TV or entertainment site you have to be careful. On one site one of the headlines mentioned something about the producer or director defending the season finale, complete with a picture of a key character, which might indicate a marked man or woman. Is the picture really necessary?

Just finished the fourth episode of this season. Its been awesome so far. I love how this season really starts with a bang and through 4 episodes hasn't let off the gas. Great stuff.

It sucks because this was a moment I was really not wanting to be let down with, they still have a chance to bring back the audience they turned away with the Jump Shark moment, but I don't trust the writers to do that anymore.

The way they presented the cliff hanger. Over half of the audience knows and expressed it was a ratings ploy when it's not needed. And as explained here and countless of other times everywhere else, there were other ways of leaving a cliff hanger without looking like a show begging for viewers to return.

I definitrly feel like I'm not quite enjoying this one as much as S5 so far, but it's still great up thru episode 14. I have some thoughts/questions I'll share after the finale

I think it's a pretty common stance here that:

#1- If an episode has aired it's fair game to discuss what went on
#2- All comic book references that give possible future info need to be in a spoiler

You don't need to put spoilers on the live show. This thread is for discussing the television show.

My take on the season: I loved it up until the cliff hanger. I just don't see why they had to do it. Other people have stated my same sentiments very well. The discussion should be about Negan and who he killed. Not who did Negan kill?

Just left a bad taste. Now for BTWD...

Alright am finally caught up.

Very good season, overall I give the season a solid 8. First half of the season was a high 9, second half was mid to low 7, so I settled on 8. Just for me, in my opinion of course. Hard to match Season 5, which IMO was one of the best television seasons, of any show, ever.

Some thoughts

Keep in mind I still haven't read hardly any posts in this thread so some stuff I mention may already be covered on here, and I will see it soon.

I don't think it's Daryl. I think Daryl is the one character on the show who is truly "unkillable." People will riot (not literally, you know what I mean) if Daryl dies. Walking Dead has made its name on hitting viewers right in the face with shocking and profoundly impactful moments. I vividly remember when the girl (Sophia, I believe?) walks out of the barn, when Rick finds his wife eaten and and stabs the belly of the zombie, when Beth got shot, when Lizzie kills her sister (did I mix the names up here?), when Rick kills Shane, when Gov goes Kill Bill on my boy Hershel, all those moments and many many more. I feel like one of the thing that makes Walking Dead work so well, well just one of many things, is every character is in danger, I honestly believe any character could die. Except Daryl. I think Daryl has been the true star of the show for too long, probably since Season 3. I could stomach Rick dying way easier than Daryl dying.

I heard something about AMC telling the TWD crew that they had to change whatever they were gonna do originally with this episode, maybe it was supposed to be Daryl and they were gonna go for the biggest "OH NO" moment in TV history, but one of the suits said "No thanks" and nixed it. I dunno, purely speculating on a random rumor I heard in our party chat a week ago or so.

Maybe it is Daryl, I dunno, that would be a super ballsy move. I understand why people may not like the cliffhanger, but I feel like that is the kind of thing TV shows have done forever. Let's be real, EVERYONE is gonna tune in to find out. Show will do such massive ratings for a show that already routinely does massive ratings.

Some general thoughts that popped up into my head as I was binge watching the last 3 seasons over the last few days/

A.) Seems pretty odd to me that this huge, resourceful, unstoppable force had gone un-noticed until now. Seems like the crew that asked Ricks people to "kill Negan" should have known what kind of force they were going up against, unless Negan kept the scope and scale of his army/resources secret and separated on purpose, which I guess makes sense.

B.) That's the guy from GTA5 right, guy who voices Trevor? That's cool as hell, if so. Looks just like him.

C.) Did Eugene literally bite that guy, Dwight, right on the hog? I thought maybe I was seeing things, but it sure as hell looked like he turned around and just went full clamp down on the dudes johnson when they were getting ambushed on the tracks. Not cool Eugene. I laughed pretty hard at that part, honestly.

C2.) Dwight is the guy who was in the woods with the two girls right? I felt like I was dumb for not knowing for sure but that guy barely had any time with Daryl and the show made it seem like these two had huge history. Thought maybe I was missing something....leading on to....

C3.) So just a few episodes ago Dwight was trying to escape Negan and seemed hesitant to want to kill people but then, boom, overnight he shows up scarred and is evil as F? That was quick

which leads me to a broader thought

D.) Character development on this show sure takes some rapid turns when it is convenient for the plot devices. For almost two full seasons Carol became a badass female Rambo who was ready and willing to kill any possible threat at first sign of danger. Fast forward about 4 episodes and she "can't do it anymore," doesn't flat out kill the saviors who capture them right away and puts herself and Maggie in more danger because all of sudden she's doesn't wanna kill anymore and then leaves the camp. That's dumb. I'm sorry, just my opinion, but that's dumb as hell, but I guess they needed someone to chase and meet up with the dude dressed up like Starship Troopers. It still kind of bothers me though. This late in the game I think everyone needs to understand that anyone left who has survived this long is a killer. Murder remorse this late in the game doesn't make sense to me. They've survived this long for a reason.

E.) So glad my boy Glenn lived. When I thought he was dead I was like "what a weak death for such a cool characer." Glenn is my boy, Team Glenn for life.

F.) How THE **** is Carl not dead? He got shot "in the eye?" HUH? Shot in the eye but not in the head???? Did the bullet come at him sideways and just graze his eye or something? WTF? That was weak sauce. Super weak sauce. Also dumb as hell that all of a sudden he backed up and kept trusting Ron or whatever that little dweebs name was who tried to kill him. Dude looked like a vampire from Twilight, glad his whiny *** got eaten. Get gone, scrub.

G.) Carl locking the girl in his closet, lol, the old "go grab my pistols" trick. Oldest trick in the book. Locking a girl who is probably your only chance of ever getting laid in a closet like that doesn't seem to be a smart move in my book, but I've been single for like 3 years, so maybe I am doing it wrong and Carl has the right idea. You tell me.

H.) Abraham is freaking crazy. Rosa is hot as hell. Plus she has that "I'm a real fun time" look too. Sasha seems like you would have to put in all the work. No bueno. Abraham folded aces and went all-in with King-Queen suited. Maybe it pays off in the end, but he let go of a for sure winner.

I.) Did anyone notice Tyreese's massive weight gain? I know this is an old moment, but I just watched 3 seasons in the span of a week so bear with me. Dude showed up to season 5 chubby as hell. What was he eating? Probably knew he was gonna get aced early and said YOLO, started hitting up the buffets. I liked thatg guy tho. Liked him a lot more than Bob. Speaking of Bob, when he was screaming "TAINTED MEAT, TAINTED MEAT," that was kind of comical. Noah was cool. Wish he had a bigger part, liked that guy. Still miss Beth, Beth was great.

J.) At what point are the characters gonna realize that splitting up means you die/get captured? Like, it happens everrrrryyyyyyyy time. Every time. Knock it off, you dumb-dumbs.

K.) If that one camp with Jesus (great character by the way, hope he comes back and is seen a lot in season 7, even though he looks too much like Jared Leto in Panic Room) only has spears, why doesn't Negan just roll in and take it over?

I just watched more Walking Dead in the last week than I thought possible, I have so many more thoughts but I figured I had to stop it there or I would just keep going. Great show. Can't wait to read this thread and see what others have said now.
